Subsections ~.2 ~ and ~:3 } ~ and the first paragraph <br />of subsection ~4 ~ of Section 2.2 6 0 of the Eugene Code , 19 ? 1 are <br />amended~to read and provide: <br />2.260 Commissions on T~u7ma~n Vii: hts <br />~2~ Each commission shah, cor~s~,st of nine members. <br />The council shall appoint the members and fill any vacancies, <br />after interviews and recommendations by the council subcommittee. <br />Members of the commissions sha~,l be appointed through a public <br />process which includes open applications and interviews of the <br />finalists by the council subcommittee.. In order to provide con- <br />tinuity, initial appointments shall include three members <br />selected for a one-year term, three members selected for a two- <br />year term, and three members selected for a three-year term. The <br />terms of initial appointees shall commence with the date of appoint- <br />ment. Thereafter all appointments shall be to fill an unex- <br />pired term or for a three--year term, as the case may be. <br />~_3~ In addition to the members appointed by the council, <br />the mayor, city manager, city attorney, or their designees shall <br />be ex officio, nonvoting merrtbers of the commissions. <br />~.4~ To the extent practical, the members of the com-~ <br />missions shall be representative of the racial, religious, and <br />other groups within the cityR Commission members shall not re- <br />ceive any salary or compensation. The council ~,n appointing <br />members to the commissions shall endeavor to determine that the <br />individuals selected have demonstrated interest i~n or knowledge <br />of the problems of discrimination of the type that is the parti- <br />cular concern of the commission upon which they serve. <br />Section 10. Subsection ~~~ of Section 2.293 of the Eugene Code, <br />1971, is amended to read and provide: <br />2.293 Library hoard - Establishment, Me~ibership~ Procedure. <br />~2~ The board consists o~ f%ve members nom;%nated by <br />the mayor and appointed by the council <br />Section 11. Section 2.330 of the Eugene Codes 1971, is amended <br />to read and provide: <br />2.330 Plannin ~ Comm%ssl.pn ~ Cam ~ ost,on; Term; ~~acancies; Etc. <br />(1~ The commission shall cQnsi,st of nine members to be <br />appointed by the council. Not more than two members of the <br />commission may be city officers, who shall serve as ex officio <br />nonvoting members. <br />~2} Members of the commission shall hold office far <br />four years, except city officers appointed as ex off icio mem- <br />bers shall hold office at the pleasure of the council, <br />~3~ any voting men~be~ who misses more than six conse- <br />cutive regular meetngs~w~;thout having been given a leave of ab- <br />Ordinance - l0 <br />
