187~t2 <br />form administrative code, 1979 edition, as published by the <br />International Conference of ~uildin~ Qf~icials. Except as <br />amended by section 8.00.5 of the Eugene Code, 1971, the uni- <br />form administrative code is hereb~~ adopted by the city and <br />shall constitute the adminstrat~~re code for the structural, <br />electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and swimming pool specialty <br />codes. <br />Section 7. Anew section 8405 is hereby added to the Eugene <br />Code, 1971, to provide: <br />8.005 Administrative Code Amendments. 'the 1979 edition of <br />the uniform administrative code is amended to pro- <br />vide: <br />{.1~ Subsection 202 ~d~ -- Sto work Orders, ~.s amended <br />to provide: <br />~d~ Stop work orders. whenever any work is being <br />done contrary to provisions of the administrative code <br />or of the technical codes to which the administrative <br />code applies, or the building official has probable <br />cause to be],ieve that any other provision of the Eugene <br />Code, 1971, is being violated in connection with the <br />project of which the work being performed is a part, <br />the building official may order the work stopped by <br />notice in writing, posted on the project, or served on <br />any person engaged in the doing or causing of such work <br />to be done, and any such person shall forthwith stop <br />such work until authorized by the building official to <br />proceed. <br />{_2~ Section 203 - Unsafe Buildings, Structures, or <br />Building Service E uipment, is hereby amended by adding a sec- <br />tion 2 0 3-~B thereto, to provide <br />Section 203--B - Abatement of Dangerous Buildings. <br />{a~ Unlawful. No person who is the owner of or <br />who is in possession of or in responsible charge of any <br />dangerous building within the city shall knowingly <br />suffer or permit such building or unsafe appendage to <br />be or remain dangerous for more than ten { l0 } days after <br />receipt of notice as provided by subsection {c} . <br />~b~. Definition. For the purpose of the Eugene <br />Cade, 1971, the term "dangerous building" shall mean: <br />1. Any structure, building, building appen- <br />dage, or building service equipment defined in <br />general by section Z03 which is determined by the <br />building official to be deficdent in terms of life <br />safety, including but not limited to, inadequate <br />exit way facilities. <br />2. Any structure, building, or building <br />appendage which, because of damage, structural <br />weakness, or deterioration, dilapidation by rea-~ <br />son of age, or for the lack or want of maintenance <br />and proper repair, is structurally unsound and <br />Ordinance - 3 <br />
