187~F3 <br />Section 3. Section 8,026 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is hereby <br />renumbered 8.015 and amended to read: <br />8,015 Fire and. Life Safety Amendments to the Structural Spe- <br />cialty Code. The State of Oregon Structural Specialty <br />Code is hereby amended as follows: <br />~l~ Section 1202, Construction Height and Allowable <br />Area, is amended to read: <br />~a~ General. Buildings or parts of buildings <br />classified in Group R because of the use or character <br />of the occupancy shall be limited to the types of con- <br />struction set forth in Tables 5-C and 5-D, and shall <br />not exceed, in area or height, the limit specified in <br />Sections 505, 506, and 507. All attached dwelling <br />units shall be separated from each other by a one-~haur, <br />fire-resistive occupancy separation, <br />~b~ 5 ecial rovision. <br />1, Group R, Division l occupancies, except <br />apartment houses, having more than 3,000 square <br />feet of f loor area above the first floor shall be <br />of not less than one-hour fire-resistive construc- <br />tion throughout. In apartment houses, dwelling <br />units shall be separated from each other by one- <br />hour, fire-resistive occupancy separation. <br />Exception: Dwelling units within an apart- <br />ment house not over two stories in height may have <br />non-bearing walls of unprotected construction, <br />provided the units are separated from each other <br />and from corridors by construction having a fire- <br />resistive rating of not less than one hour. Open- <br />ings in such corridors shall be equipped with <br />doors conforming to section 3304 ~.h~ regardless of <br />the occupancy load served. <br />2, Group R, Division 1 occupancies provid-- <br />ing low-income elderly housing for 20 or more per- <br />sons and funded wholly ar in part by state or <br />.federal funds shall include a multi-service room <br />required by aRS 456.?72. The multi-service room <br />shall be sized by the occupany load of one person <br />for each bedroom in the low-income elderly hous- <br />ing see Table 3.3-A}, As used in this section, <br />"low-income elderly" means persons over age 60 <br />whose household income as defined in ORS 310.630 <br />is less than $5,000 per year. The multi-service <br />room shall include adjacent toilet facilities for <br />both sexes; a service area with a kitchen sink, <br />counter top, and upper and lower cabinets and <br />a storage room sized to store tables, chairs or <br />benches, and janitorial supplies and tools. The <br />multi--ser~rice room and accessory rooms shall be <br />accessible to the handicapped in accordance with <br />the provisions of Chapter 31. <br />Ordinance -- 2 <br />
