øÈÖØÏØíÎÑÔÚØúÎÐÐÔÊÊÔÎÏ <br />÷ä <br /> <br />æÎËÒíÑÜÏùËÜ×É <br />Continue outreach, information sharing and collaboration with the Human Rights <br /> <br />Commission and the Civilian Review Board on issues of mutual interest <br /> Utilize the roles of both commission liaisons (one CRB member and one HRC member) <br />to stay on track with other City business <br />procedural issues with suggestions for improvement. This work will take place in conjunction <br />with upcoming Police Commission meetings. One of the objectives members shared an interest in is to <br />be more aware of issues outside the commission that directly affect public safety and are of relevance <br />County and its budget outcomes, policy-related stories from other police agencies, and other pertinent <br />updates that <br />the process session is to better understand parliamentary procedure during the meetings. This will <br />allow the members to be more effective when taking action on critical issues like policy <br />recommendations, especially if there are dissenting opinions. Training will be provided to the <br />commission on sion protocol, and a review of the Police Commission <br />Bylaws. <br />Work Plan Outcomes <br />Increase communications between police and the community, leading to a <br />OUTCOME 1. <br />greater understanding of the preferred policing alternatives for the city. <br />In FY10, the Police Commission will: <br />Provide a forum for community dialogue on current issues in law enforcement, to include: <br /> <br />Monthly Internal Affairs case summaries and annual complaint statistics reports. <br /> <br />Progress of the civilian oversight system via periodic status updates from the police <br /> <br />auditor and the Civilian Review Board liaison, and review of annual police auditor <br />reports. <br /> Regular updates from the Human Rights Commission liaison and participation in joint <br />meetings/activities. <br />Solicit public input on proposed policy recommendations and involve interested <br /> <br />community members in the review process. <br />Increase accessibility of police department staff to the community. <br /> <br />Inform the public on standard police practices and new procedures to increase the <br /> <br />transparency of police operations. <br /> Partner with other stakeholders and agencies to plan a regional conference on hate crimes (planning <br /> <br />period may take a few years and include applications for grant money). <br />Police Commission FY10 Work Plan - 6 - <br /> <br />
