This agenda item is for the <br />council to conduct City Manager Jon Ruiz’s first annual performance review. The format agreed upon <br />by the council and City Manager Ruiz is that the first part will be in executive session. During this <br />session, they will review the results of the feedback gathering, share their overall performance feedback <br />with him and discuss any compensation adjustments. The second part of the process will be sharing <br />their feedback with the City Manager on this past year’s performance, identify agreed upon goals for the <br />coming year and make a decision on a compensation discussion. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Using a process agreed upon by the City Council and City Manager, surveys based on the agreed upon <br />performance dimensions were conducted with executive leaders of each City department, an identified <br />group of community leaders, and an identified group of employees from throughout the City <br />organization. Neighborhood leaders, their neighborhood members and other employees were also <br />invited to share comments through email. Finally, City Councilors each filled out their own dimension <br />forms. <br /> <br />Human Resources has compiled all of this information to support the City Council in getting a well- <br />rounded view of the performance of the City Manager this year. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />The City Council has historically conducted an annual performance review of the City Manager. This <br /> <br />process is a continuation for City Manager Jon Ruiz. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />Council members may evaluate and discuss the following decision points and direct staff accordingly: <br />? <br /> <br />In preparation for this year’s performance review of the City Manager, the council stated their <br />desire to set specific goals for the next year with the City Manager.
