ATTACHMENT B <br /> <br />GOAL 5 <br />To integrate arts and culture into the fabric of downtown Eugene and other neighborhoods as part of a <br />comprehensive strategy of revitalization. <br /> <br />Strategy 5.1 – Priority 2 <br />Integrate arts and culture into planning and dvelopment activities in Eugene’s downtown. <br /> <br /> <br />? <br />Individuals from the arts and culture sector have been asked to serve on a number of committees to <br />ensure the artistic perspective is part of the conversation in planning processes. <br /> <br />Strategy 5.2 – Priority 3 <br />Establish approaches to cultural development in the downtown that dovetail with community priorities. <br /> <br /> <br />? <br />“Summer in the City” and other activiites associated with the use of public gathering locations <br />encourage revitalization and new relationships. <br /> <br />Strategy 5.3 – Priority 3 <br />Enhance Eugene’s physical environment through public art in downtown and throughout the City. <br /> <br /> <br />? <br />Awarded a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to fund consultant services to <br />develop Eugene’s first Public Art Master plan. NEA noted that the Cultural Policy Review was an important <br /> <br />element in granting funds. <br /> <br />? <br />Developed a document linking all City of Eugene plans together that identify public art as a key element as a <br /> <br />foundation from which consultants can work. <br /> <br />? <br />Developed a Public Art Master Plan steering committee comprised of the Public Art Committee and interested <br /> <br />community leaders including the University of Oregon. <br /> <br />? <br />Concluded an RFP for services and have a contract with Barney and Worth, Inc. of Portland for the <br />development of the plan. The firm is working with Eloise Damrosch, Executive Director of the Regional Arts & <br /> <br />Culture Council in Portland. The final is due this fall. <br /> <br />? <br /> <br />Reorganization of Cultural Services with dedicated resources to staff Public Art. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />
