ATTACHMENT B

?
The Arts and Business Alliance identified funding as a phase two action item. Members agreed
that funding is an important issue. Work to fund and manage “Artsopolis” and build relationships
between the arts and business sectors was the first step before engaging in fundraising activities.

Strategy 1.4 – Priority 1
Conduct a thorough review of Hult Center operations to develop, if necessary, a new mission and
implement a new operating model that will support that mission in a long-term, financially sustainable
way.

?
Contracted with Steven Wolff of AMS Consulting in Boston to conduct a strategic benchmarking
study to aid in the assessment and planning process for the Hult Center of the Performing Arts.

?
The final report was presented to CSAC in January 2009. The full report is available at

http://tinyurl.com/mxxjw4

?
CSAC recommended Hult staff move forward immediately on review of programming and
concessions services.

GOAL 2
To provide comprehensive arts learning experiences for Eugene’s children, youth, and adults.

Strategy 2.1 – Priority 2
Enrich the range of access to arts and cultural learning opportunities for teens and adults.

?
No Shame Theater performances scheduled on First Fridays through the end of the year in attrition
to the Eugene Chamber players each Saturday afternoon now perform at the Atrium.

?
Partnered with Pacific Winds to host the popular Washburne Music Series.

?
Facilitated the first Eugene Symphony event at Cuthbert Amphitheater.

?
Introduced “Summer in the City” programming.

GOAL 3
To build participation in and audiences for arts and culture in Eugene.

Strategy 3.1 – Priority 2
Develop a comprehensive communication mechanism to provide information about Eugene’s arts and
culture to resident and visitors.

?
The Arts & Business Alliance is progressing on purchasing “Artsopolis” a robust platform for sharing
information on arts and culture.

Strategy 3.2 – Priority 1
Implement a coordinated awareness campaign to highlight the value and strength of Eugene’s arts and
culture.

?
Since the completion of the Cultural Policy Review a variety of publications have featured articles
that speak to the value arts contribute to the community in terms of economics and livability, i.e.,
Chamber of Commerce, Register-Guard, Travel Lane County.

?
The Arts and Business Alliance “Awareness” working committee is developing strategies to
coordinate the message. “Artsopolis” will play a major role in increasing awareness.

Strategy 3.3 – Priority 2
Build existing audiences and develop new ones for arts and culture.

?
No Shame Theatre, “Summer in the City”, and the Eugene Symphony Orchestra at Cuthbert are
current examples.

Page 2
