The institute noted that the winners of this year’s awards <br />were examples of “beautiful designs within a limited budget,” that are, “true assets to their community.” The award <br />was presented to Vallaster Corl Architects and Metro Affordable Housing Corporation for “professional excellence” <br />and “intelligent cooperation.” <br /> <br />th <br />WestTown on 8 is a residential development in <br />downtown Eugene. The $20 million development <br />includes 102 rental units affordable to households <br />earning below 60% of Area Median Income and <br />nine market-rate live-work units. The <br />th <br />development is located at 265 West 8 Avenue <br />next to the historic Woodmen of the World Hall <br />(WOW Hall). The developer, Metropolitan <br />Affordable Housing Corporation, aligned an array <br />of city, state, and federal resources to make this <br />project possible. The City of Eugene selected <br />Metro to develop the landbank site through a <br />competitive Request for Proposals process. In <br />addition, the City of Eugene contributed federal HOME funds, systems development charge waivers, a 20-year <br />local tax exemption, and a short-term loan. The project is designed to fit with adjacent buildings, use land <br />efficiently, and provide residents with multiple amenities such as an interior raised courtyard. For more <br />information, contact Becky Wheeler at Becky.L.Wheeler@ci.eugene.or.us or 682-5532. <br /> <br />Strategic Neighborhood Action Plan Workshop <br />The City of Eugene Planning Division will hold a public workshop on neighborhood planning in Eugene focusing on <br /> <br />Strategic Neighborhood Action Plans on Wednesday, December 2,from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Eugene Public <br />thst <br />Library, 100 West 10 Avenue, 1 Floor, Bascom-Tykeson Room. <br /> <br />A Strategic Neighborhood Action Plan (SNAP) provides a neighborhood, or otherwise geographically defined area, <br />with an opportunity and the tools and framework to create a vision for their future and to develop strategies to <br />achieve that vision. During the workshop staff will present the SNAP model. This will be followed by break-out <br />sessions and time for feedback and questions.
