Multi-Hazard # 5 <br />Proposed Action Item: <br />Alignment with Plan Goals: <br />Goal 6 <br />Coordinate efforts with Lane Council of Governments to develop <br />new hazard maps for the Eugene/Springfield Natural Hazards <br />Mitigation Plan. <br />Rationale for Proposed Action Item: <br />The Eugene/Springfield Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan completed its 5-year update in October 2009. <br />The current maps in the plan adequately show the presence of natural hazards in the community and the <br />location of critical facilities, but should be updated to show changes in city boundaries, additional critical <br />facilities, and incorporate new hazard information when new information becomes available. Within 1 <br />year after the plan update, the Eugene/Springfield Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan should update maps for <br />the following natural hazards: <br />1)Earthquake showing amplification, liquefaction, and landslide-induced <br />2)Landslide showing debris flow and slope instability <br />3)Flood showing floodplain <br />4)Wildfire showing forest cover in the Eugene/Springfield area <br />Ideas for Implementation: <br />Set up a meeting between the Lane Council of Governments and the GIS departments of Eugene and <br />Springfield to coordinate efforts in developing natural hazards mitigation maps. <br />Develop a map template that all the jurisdictions can work from. <br />Review existing critical facilities displayed in maps and update as needed. <br />When available, use new information to update hazard, including earthquake information from the Oregon <br />Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI). <br />Coordinating Organization: Springfield and Eugene GIS departments <br />Internal Partners: External Partners: <br />Lane Council of Governments GIS FEMA, DOGAMI, OEM, Oregon Partnership for <br />Disaster Resilience (OPDR), Lane Preparedness <br />Coalition <br />Timeline:If available, estimated cost: <br />Short Term () <br />Long Term (2-4 or more years) <br />0-2 years <br />1 year <br />Form Submitted by: Springfield and Eugene Steering Committees <br />Action Item Status: New 2009 action item <br />
