Racial Profiling Task Team <br /> After the release of the Racial Profiling Data Collection Project report, the task team, led by Ret. <br /> Police Chief Jim Hill, met to develop next steps. In Spring 2004, the team divided into four sub- <br /> groups to focus on various topics illuminated by the report. Commissioners and staff continue to <br /> serve on the team throughout the process. <br /> <br /> Strategies to Improve Interactions Between Pofice and Community Members <br /> Commissioners, EPD officers and command staff met to discuss and prioritize methods for <br /> improving relations between police officers and community members. <br /> <br />Timing <br />The approval of the Human Rights Program work plan is an annual activity tied to the fiscal year. The <br />joint meeting and approval of the FY05 was delayed this year due to a number of issues including the <br />City Council schedule. <br /> <br />OPTIONS <br />The council has the option to amend and/or approve the Human Rights Commission Goals and Work <br />Plan for FY 2005. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends City Council approval of the Human Rights Commission Goals and Work Plan for <br />FY 2005. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br />Move to approve the Human Rights Commission Goals and Work Plan for FY 2005. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />A.
