HB 2425 proposes revision to local budget <br />law that would impact the City of Eugene. Most changes are acceptable, one in particular <br />would be beneficial and save on costs, and a few provisions are unclear, imply additional <br />costs, or would be difficult to accomplish. I am recommending the bill be amended to <br />address our concerns. <br /> <br />>> Section 6(c)(5)(b) contains proposed changes to the Budget Committee meeting <br />notice requirements that should save us some money, since one of the notices may be <br />published on the web site rather than in the newspaper. rather than in a newspaper. The <br />City supports this change. <br /> <br />>> Section 6(8)contains new language requiring the governing body to provide copies of <br />the budget document to individuals upon request. It is not clear from the new language <br />whether providing a budget on a CD or providing a hyperlink to the web site would <br />satisfy this requirement. This is our current proactive, as we publish few hard copies. The <br />City provide citizen access to the budget document on CDs or through the City website, <br />rather than publishing many hard copies.
