Nay 12, 1913. <br /> <br /> Council Oh~lbers, Eugene, Oregon, N~y lpg, !913.' <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by Hayer <br /> Yoran. Present Councilmen Hensill, Johnson,.~c~urphey, Doff, Bell ~nd Striker; <br /> absent K0ppe and Be~n. <br /> <br /> 'M~e minutes of Council meetings of ~me ~2nd ~nd ~y ~th were read,and <br /> ~pproved. <br /> <br /> Counci]~nan Hensill brought up the question of more suitable Jail <br /> <br /> dations than are now afforded by the present jail, and suggested suitable <br /> darlene could be provided; and also read the report of the Pound Master; and also <br /> reported for the Printing Co~ittee the purchase of City letter t~eads and station- <br /> ery, and also supplies for the department of Public Safety. <br /> <br /> ~ne Judiciary CoFmaittee by Councilman Jet,neon reported unfavorably upon <br /> the petition for the purchase of the Gilbert property for park ptu, poses, and the <br /> report was on mQtion adopted. Mr. Johnson also reported that the Ordinance <br /> providing for a license for picture shows had been dra~ and would be submitted <br /> to the Council, and that the ~natter of changing the license for circuses was Still <br /> under consideration and tinct the Co~mnittee desired suggestions fron the Cotmcil as <br /> to whether or not they would consider reducing the license, and the Committee was <br /> instructed to prepare an Ordinance regnlating the license for circuses and other <br /> similar shows and present same to the Council. <br /> <br />Ohairman Bell of the Sewer Committee reco~ended that the ten petitions <br />for lateral sewe~ in Fairmmmt presented and referred to his Committee at the last <br />meeting be granted, and that the Engineer prepare the plans and specifications <br />and the City Attorney draw Ordinances for these sewers. ~otion was made, second- <br />ed and carried to adopt the report. <br /> <br /> ~hairman Striker off the Fire & Water Committee reported favorably on tt~e <br />petitions for street lights at 20th & High Sts. and 20th & University Streets., <br />and on motion the report was adopted~ Also the request of tt~e Telept~one Co. to <br />remove phones not'in use at the lltt~ Street and Lawrence Street Hose Houses and in <br />the Ci~emical Engine RoOm. Request was on motion granted. <br /> <br /> Chief of Police was instructed to notify property owners to repair their <br />sidewalks on Lincoln Street from l~th Ave. to 16th Ave., which were reported in <br />bad condition. <br /> <br /> Chairman ~{c~.{urphey of the Street Conn~.ittee read the report of Street <br /> <br />Co~nissioner Turner for April, and same was ordered placed on file. Also re- <br />co~ended M~e gr~nting of the ~etition ~or grading ~nd ~acad~mizi]~g of lyth Ave. <br /> <br /> <br />
