Couneilnen voti~v~ aye 6, n~y none, absent 2. <br />The Ordinance was declared pe, ssed and n~bered <br /> <br /> In the matter of openi~tg and extension of Van B~u'en Street from the <br />~lley South of 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue in the City of k~gene, the report of <br />viewers was read and a motion was ~de, seconded and c~rried that the Recorder <br />give notice required ~u~der the Char~er by advertisement of the sar. e by posting <br /> <br />of notices. <br /> <br />The request of the .~{ercy Hospital for relief of assessment of ~)150.[k5 <br /> <br />charged to the_~ on accotu~t o£ privmte drive wmy put in without their order cz· <br /> <br />request was referred to the Street Co~:.~ittee. <br /> <br /> A duplicate agree~ent with the Southern Pacific Railroad Co. coveri~u3 <br />poll line encroachments on the r~ilroad right-of-way was referred to the <br />and City Attorney with power to act. <br /> <br /> A duplicate a~eement between the City ~nd the Pacific Telephone & <br />Telegraph Co. covering police al~n connection with the Telephone Office was <br /> <br />presented, and on ~notion seconded ~nd e~rried ti~e }.~ayor ~nd Recorder were in- <br />structed to execute the sa~e on behalf of the ~ity. <br /> <br /> The request of Warnock Bros. to rent the City Hall Site for the pul~pose <br />of storing vehicles was referred to the Judiciary Co:~-~ittee for investigation. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened for the construction of wooden sewer conduit under <br />Ordinance #1~09. The bids received being those of Applewhite & Stein and <br /> <br />Jazzes Kennedy, and a motion was ~:ade, seconded ~nd c6rried that the bids be <br />~eferred to th_e~._Sewer Co~m..ittee with power to act, either to ~ward the con- <br />tract or to direct the re-advertisement for bid~ for the construction of said <br />conduit. <br /> <br />!~{r. Du,'yea requested the Council to t~ke some action to better the con- <br /> <br />dition of crossings on South Will,_amette Street, either by completion of the <br /> <br />p~vement at the street intersections or providi~tg of temporary cross walks. <br /> <br />~{atter was left in the i~ands of the Street Co~.~nittee. <br /> <br />Request of employees of the Oity E%~gineer's Office for vacations w~s <br /> <br />referred to the <br /> <br /> .;' 5(orion was ~.ade, seconded~ and carried that the Council do now adjourn <br /> to meet 0etober 27, lgl3, at 7:30 o'clock P, M. ~ <br />......... i~'___ ~i%y Recorder. <br /> <br /> <br />
