An 0rdlnm~ee adopting and .approvi~ug the plans and specifications of the City Engineer for the_ pavement of Tenth Avenue from Pearl Street to Hill Street in the City oF k~gene~was read the first time in full and the second time by title and laid over. ~l Ordinance authorizing the s~le and issuance of $~0,100.00 of ~n~ prov~ment Bo~s of tt~e 0ity of Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, ax~ diz, eoting and ad- vertising tile same for sale in accordance v~lth Oi~apter V, of Title xxv1 of Lord's Oregon L~ws of the State of 0~egon was read, and a :~%otion was made, seconded and ea,,tied ~hat the rules be suspended and the 0r(iinanee read the second time by title. The 0rdl~mnee was read the second time by title, and a ~uotlon was ~uade, seconded and carried that the rulgs be fu~-ther suspended ~nd the 0rdinanoe be read the third time by title m~d placed upon its final passage, and the O~,dinanee was read the third time by title and dee~.~red upon its p~ssage. An Ordinance creating the office of inspector of 'buildings in the City of Eugene; defining l':is powers and duties a:~/ fixing his compensation was read the first time in full and _tl~e second time by title ~and laid over. Attorney Skipwerth reported that in his opinion the County Court would be willi~ ,to remit the t~ax levy against the property constituting Van Buren Street from Eighth AvenUe No~th to Alley, and on notion was directed to present the matter to the County Cou~t. A motion was made and seconded that whereas Robert E. Eastl~nd has sold the south half of the gO.0~ feet o~ property o,~ Pearl Street to Dr. H. N. Bull, and whereas each of said parities is desirous that the amo%u%t assessed against said tract be divided to enable each. to pay_on the portion now owned by hi::, that the City Treasur- er be now instructed ~o credit any, payments made on the north half to ,Robe~rt E. Eastla~nd smd on the south half to Dr. H. N. Bull, and that full p~yment on eithe~ half shall be deemed.complete, sa%isfaction of ar%V lien_against said_~alf.on account of said paving as assessed by Ordinance No. !kS0, The motion was oarMied. Attention wascalled to the fact tha~ a building is being erected on the proper.fy in line with Olive Street. if extended North from t~ifth Street to railroad, and there being a possibility, that 'this property or a part of it belo~ugS to the City as a public street, the motio~n was m~de, seconded and carried that. the Judiciary Committee a~d City Attor~.~e¥~ investigate at once, and that tl:ey be author- ized with full p~e~ to act if deemed advisable.
