Present Cotmei]~en McMurphe¥, Bog~te, Devereaux, Bell, <br />Goodpmstu~,e; absent Johnson, Hemp¥ and Be2tien. <br /> <br />An 0rdlnanee ko improve Alder .Street from tt~e Soutt~ tine of l;intt~ Avenue <br /> <br />East to the )llllraee was read and passed its second and third readings by title ~mder <br /> <br />suspension of the rule and was placed upon its final passage. Councilmen voting <br />aye 5, nay none, abse_nt 3. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered #1615. <br /> <br />An 0rdinanoe ~loptin~; ~nd approving the plans ~nd specifications of the <br /> <br />Engineer for theimprovement of Alder Street from the South line of Ninth <br /> <br />Avenue East to the ],(illraee in the Oity of ~zgene was read and passed its second <br />and third readin~,,s bM .title trader suspension of tlze rule and was placed upon its <br /> <br />final passage. Counci.lmen voting aye 5, nmy none, absent 3. The Ordinance <br /> <br />was declared passed and mu~bered #1616. <br /> <br />An Ordinance adopting plans fop the construction of a board sidewalk <br /> <br />along the ~orth ~ide of Eighth Avenue West n~nning east from the ~est line of <br /> <br />Almaden Street about ~82 feet. was read and passed its second and third readings by <br /> <br />title under s~spension of tixe rule and was placed upon its final passage. <br /> <br />Councilmen voting aye 5, nay nol~, absent 3. The Ordinance v~s declared passed <br /> <br />and numbered #1617. <br /> <br />Chairman Bell of the~ Sewer Co~it~ee moved that the Council finds and <br /> <br />determines that the bid of Hall & Soleim for the construction of a sewer between <br /> <br />6th and 7th Ave~n~es f¥om Blair Boulevard to Van Bitten Street is the lowest and <br /> <br />best bid, and that the Council a%¥ards the contract to them in accordance with their <br />bid providing that concrete pipe be used, and that the Mayor and Recorder be author- <br />ized to sign~he contract for the Oity. The motion was seconded and carried. <br /> <br />Bell also moved that the Council finds and determines that the bid of <br /> <br />01e Soleim for the construction of a sewer tetween Washington' and Jeffg~so, n <br /> <br />Streets from 19th to 22nd Avenues is the lowest and best bid, and that.the Council <br /> <br /> him the eont~ao~ in accordance with his bid providing that concrete.sewer <br />pipe~be used, and that the Mayor and Recorder be instructed to sign the same on <br /> <br />bel~alf of the 0ity.~ ~{otion was seconded and carried. <br /> <br /> , The ~ire & Wa~e~ Committee reco~mmended tinct J. W. Jenkins be g~anted per- <br />mission to make certain repairs on a sm~ll house In rear of No. 165 - 5th Avenue <br /> <br />West, and that the Building Inspector issue.a permit.
