Councilmen voting mye Johnson, HoMurphey, Bogue, Bell, Beytien and Goodpasture, <br /> nay none, absent t{emp¥ and Devereaux. The motion was declared carried and so <br /> ordered. <br /> <br /> Bids for the construction of a sewer between Washington and Jefferson <br /> Streets from 19th to ~nd Avenues, and bids for the construction of a sewer be- <br /> tween 6th a~ 7th Avenues from Blair Boulevard to Van Btu. eh Street were opened <br /> a~X read and referred to the Sewer Co~:ittee. <br /> <br /> Bids for macad~nizing the alley between 10th and llth Avenues from <br /> Monroe to Adams Streets were read mhd referred to the Street Co~nittee to be <br /> reported September 7th. <br /> <br /> Councilman Beytien thou~xt the Council should take action to construct <br /> concrete retaining walls ~lon4~ the Amazon across Willamette Street, and the <br /> Council a~eed to go over the situation Wednesday morning mt 9 o'clock. <br /> <br /> It appearing that there is some question as to whom the City's portion <br /> of the Judgment in the c~se of Dygert vs City of ~gene should be paid, a motion <br /> was made, seconded and carried that the question of Joini~ with the'Oregon <br /> Power Co. in an interpleader action be referred to the City Attorney with <br /> power to act. <br /> <br /> Councilmmn ~cEurphey presented tile request, of Hiss Zin,]ner for a refund <br />of a portion of dog license p~id, the dog having died. The Council took no <br />action. <br /> <br /> A report from Cyrus A. V~ipple, Ex Water & bi~lt Supt., was re~d and <br /> <br />on motion referred to the Judiciary Col~ittee. <br /> <br /> The Street Co~m~ittee recommended that the petition for the narrowing of . <br /> <br />Agate Street from 90 feet to 70 feet be denied. The reco~aendation was <br /> <br />adopted. <br /> <br /> The Street Co~mmittee also recommended that the petition for narrowing <br />~airmount Boulevard from 21st Street · to Moss Street be denied. On motion the <br />recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br /> Motion was made, seconded mhd carried that the Council do now adjourn <br /> <br />to meet Wednesday September 2, 191g. <br /> <br /> <br />
