570 <br /> <br />SEPTH~,~BER lib, 191g. . <br /> <br /> An Ordinance assessinjj the cost of a cement sidewalk on Ferry Street to <br />the property of S. D. Allen was read and passed its second and ttlird readings <br />by title under suspension of the z~.~le and was placed upon its final passage. <br /> <br />I Councilzlen voting t~ye 7, nay none. The Ordinance was declared passed and <br /> numbered [~1619. <br /> <br /> The ~ayor suggested for Band Commissioners the names of S. S. Spencer, <br /> H. A. Tromp and W. ~. Gilst~ap, and the Council proceeded to elect a Band Commi- <br /> ssion. The follov~lng men were .duly elected .as said Conm~ission: H.A. Tromp <br /> to 'serve for one year, S. S. Spencer-for two years and W. ~. Gllstrap for three <br /> years. <br /> <br />The request of the Ekw~ene Water Co. for the privilege of storing poles <br /> <br />on the City Hall Site ground was referred to the ~lnance Committee with power to <br /> <br />act. <br /> <br />Bids were opened and considered as follows: <br /> <br />the macadamizing of _ <br /> <br />Klneaid Street from 13th to l~th Avenues, for the construction of a concrete <br />sidewalk on the west side of Alde~ Street in front of the H. I~. Rhodes property, <br /> <br />and for the eonstructio~ of a board sidewalk on tile Nortt~ side of Eigj~th Avenue <br /> <br />West in front of the Stevens proPerty. Councilmen Mc}~urphe¥ moved that ~he bid <br /> <br />of A. 0. Mathews for the macadamizing of Kincaid Street is the lowest and best bid <br /> <br />and that ttte eon%tact be awarded to him in accordance with his bid. Motion was <br /> <br />seconded and carried. Councilman ~cMurphey moved that the Council finds, and <br /> <br />determines that tile bid of E. J. Fuller for the Alder Street cement sidewalk at <br />!!~:cents a square foot, and that his bid for the construction of the Stevens <br /> <br />sidewalk on 8th Avenue at $25.50 per thousand, are reasonable bids and the only <br />bids ~eceived for said work and that the Council award eactl of said contracts to <br /> <br />said E. J. Fuller in accordance with his respeotiv~ bids. <br />c~r~ied. <br /> <br />Motion seconded and <br /> <br /> Bids for the construction of a storm sewer in Fairmount, and for the con- <br />struction of a lateral sewer between 10th and llth Avenues from Van Buren tO Polk <br />Streets were opened and read, and a motionwas m~de, seconded and carried that <br /> <br />the s~e be referred to the Sewer Committee for consideration and report to the <br />Council. <br /> <br /> Motion was made, seconded and carried that the Council do now adjourn <br />to meet September 21, 19lW, at ~:30 o'clock P. <br /> <br /> <br />
