Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, January 2~, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council met ptt~suant to adjournment of January 10th, and was called <br /> <br />.to order by Mayor Bell. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Peterson, Mosher <br /> <br /> and Quimby; absent Councilmen Koppe, Devereaux and Goodpasture. <br /> <br /> Petition of Dora E. Wallace by W. C. Barbour, Attorney, for a reasonable <br /> amount of damages~on account of the killing of her husband by a deer at the <br /> City Park was referred to the Judiciary Committee and City .Attorney. <br /> <br /> Petitions for ornamental light post street lighti~ng system on Seventh <br /> Avenue From Olive Street to High Street and on East Eighth Avenue from Willamette <br /> <br /> Street to Pearl Street were read and referred to the Street Committee. <br /> At this time Councilm~n Goodpasture appeared in Council. <br /> <br /> Attention of the Council was called to hearing by the Public Service <br /> Commission of Oregon of application of the Southern Pacific Company for grade <br /> crossings on Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, VanBuren Streets and River Road, set <br /> For February 2nd at 1:30 o'clock P. M. <br /> <br /> Communication of City Treasurer Stickels recommending a Charter amend- <br />ment at the next City Election for the sale of $~0,000 Refunding Bonds to take <br />care of miscellaneous street and sewer construction warrants was referred to the <br />Finance Committee. <br /> <br /> Report of the Judiciary Committee recommending that the petition filed <br />by Donald W. McKinnon for the submission at the April Election of a proposed <br />Charte~ amendment providing for the establishment of a Department of Municipal <br />Industry be rejected and not put on the official ballot, the same not being in <br />compliance with the law in such case m~de ~nd provided, was on motion seconded <br />and carried adopted. <br /> <br /> Due notice having been given of the hearing of objections to the pro- <br />posed assessment of the cost of ornamental street lights on Willamette Street <br />from the Depot to Eleventh Avenue and from Eleventh Avenue to Thirteenth <br />Avenue, objections wer~ called for at this time and no objections being heard <br />and no objections having been Filed, a motion was made, seconded and carried <br />instructing the City Attorney to prepare Ordinances for the assessment of <br />these two lighting systems in accordance with the Cha~ter. <br /> <br /> At this time Councilman ~oppe appea~ed in Council. <br /> <br /> A Resolution providing for the submission to the electors of the'City <br /> <br />of Eugene at the regular City Election to be held April 3, 1916, a proposed act <br />attached to said Wesolution, being an act to amend Section lk2 of the Charter <br />of the City of Eugene providing for the creation of drainage districts and ~he <br /> <br /> <br />
