FEBRUARY <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, February 28, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council met pursuant to adJo~r~ent of ?ebruary ll~th, and was celled <br /> <br />to order by ~ayor Bell. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, ?eterson, Nosher, <br />Goodpasture and Quimby; absent Koppe and Devereaux. <br /> <br /> Report of the Sewer Co~.~.ittee on the objections of the Buck Box & Cr~te <br />Co. and John ~(aughan and wife to proposed assessments against their property <br />for their proportion of cost in the construetio~ of the sewer in the ~ortheast <br />part of the City under 0rdin~nce #1~88, reco~.m~er~ding that the proposed ~ssessment <br />was re[~tlar and legal, and reeo~uending that the objections of said pa.tries to the <br />p~oposed assessment be overruled w~s read, and a. motion was made, seconded.and <br />carried to adopt the recommendation of the Sewer. Committee. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying ~ssessment for the construction of ~ sewer laid ~s <br />follows: ~rom the manhole in Sixth Avenue Eas~ at the ~lley between High <br />Street and Nill Street, through s~id ~lley betwe~en High and ~ill Streets to the <br />intersection of the alley running East and West between Third and Fourth Avenues <br />F~st, thence E~st to the middle of Block 6 of the original pl~t of Eugene, <br />thence diagonally across lots I and ~ of Block 6, to Fer~y Street, thence I~orth <br />on Fer~y Street to the manhole in the alley r~nqning F~st ~nd West between Third <br />Avenue E~st and Second Avenue East, in the City of Eugene was read the third <br />time ~nd placed upon its final passage. Councilmen voting aye 6, n~y none, <br /> <br />absent Koppe ~nd Devereaux. <br />#1836. <br /> <br />The 0rdin~nce was declared passed and numbered <br /> <br />At this time Councilman Devere~ux appeared in Council. <br /> <br />A motion w~s made and seconded that the Counei! finds and determines <br /> <br />that the objections to the construction of the ornamental street lighting <br />system on Seventh Avenue from Olive Street to High Street are only objections <br />to the expediency of the proposed improvement ~nd that the sa~e ~re unwarranted <br />and that they ~re now overruled and denied. <br /> <br /> An 0rdin~nee providing for the construction ~nd erection of ~n ornamen- <br />tal street lighting system on both sides of Seventh Avenue from Olive Street to <br />High Street in the City of Eugene, and to assess the cost thereof against <br />property ~but.ting said street between said points was read the third time and <br />placed upon its final passage. ~ouneilmen voting aye Parks, Peterson, Devereaux, <br />Goodpasture and Quimby, nay Polders and Nosher, absent Koppe. The Ordinance <br />w~s declared pas. sed and numbered <br /> <br /> A Resolution directing the City Recorder to notify the Eugene Water <br /> Board to proceed with the construction of the ornamental street lighting <br /> <br /> <br />
