NAY 8, 1916. <br /> <br /> Au invitation from the Executive Committee of the Civil & Spanish War <br />Veterans Encampment asking the City to participate in the Grmnde P~rade June <br />l~th at I~:30 o'eloek P. N. was read and upon motion accepted. <br /> <br /> At this time Councilmen Koppe and Devereaux appeared in Council. <br /> <br /> An 0rdinanee levying assessment for the improvement of the alley between <br />Charnelton and Lincoln Streets from Eleventh Avenue to Twelfth Avenue West was <br />read the second time ~nd objections called for and objections to the levying of <br />said ~ssessments were offered by Mrs. Russell in the matter of as.~essment against <br />Bridget Coffe¥ and also by N. S. B. Hayeoek. The Ordinance w~s laid over for <br />further consideration on ~{~¥ 22nd, and objections referred to the Street Co~_.ittee <br />for investigation. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance g~anting to OREGON AND CALI~)RNIA RAILROAD CONPA/~Y, its <br /> <br />lessees, sueoessors and assigns the perpetual right, privilege and franchise to <br />establish, lay down, construct, maintain and operate m single st~nd~rd gauge <br />railway tr~ek and appu~tenmnees, in addition to existing track or tracks on <br />and across Eadison Street, Jefferson Street, bineoln Street anti th~% certain <br />Street or road known as River Ro~d in the City o£ Eugene, Oregon, subject to <br />oertaln eonditions and restrictions hereinafter set forth was read and passed its <br />second reading under suspension of the m~le by title and was laid over. <br /> <br /> Nine 0rdinanees each entitled, "An 0rdin~nee providing for the eon- <br />struotion of ~ oement sidewalk abutting the property described in Seotion i of <br />this 0rdinanee, said property being in the City of Eugene", were eaoh of tt~em <br />re~d the firs~ time anti p~ssed their second re~ding by title under suspension of <br />the rule anti were laid over. <br /> <br /> The following bills were recommended by the Finance go~mmittee for payment: <br /> <br />Eugene Gun Shop <br /> <br />Preston & Hales <br />t{en~,¥ Sarbacher <br />Sv~rverud Hdw.
