JUNE 19, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council 0hambers, Eugene, Oregon, June 19, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council met pursuant to adjourr~nent of June 12tit, and was called to <br /> order by )~ayor Bell. Present. Councilmen Parks, Koppe, Nosher, Quimby, and <br /> Goodpasture; mbsent Polders, ?eterson and Devereaux. <br /> <br /> The Fire & V/ate~ Com~ittee reported adversely on the petition for ~ <br /> street light at the street railway station at the City Dimits. Report was on <br /> motion adopted. <br /> <br /> Co~unication of Norman Furuset claiming damages For injury by reason <br /> of an alleged defective sidewalk on East Thirteenth Avenue was referred to the <br /> Judiciary Conu~ittee and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> A Resolution directing the Recorder to advertise for hearing of object- <br />'ions to the plat providing for the assessment of ornamental lighting system <br /> <br /> on Ninth Avenue from Olive Street to Pearl Street was on motion adopted. <br /> <br /> The application of Edith Anderson for a rooming house permit w~s on <br /> motion granted. <br /> <br /> It was repo~ted that H. b. Traver had resigned from the street Force, <br /> and the ],~ayor named R. E. Meyers to succeed him and the appointment was laid <br /> over without confirmation for consideration at the next meeting of the Council. <br /> <br /> The following bills were presented: <br /> <br /> GENERAL FUND. <br /> <br /> R. S. Bryson . $ 2.31 F.F. Ellis $ 2~.00 <br /> <br />H. L. Traver <br /> <br />ROAD & S_TRE_ET ~UN_~D. <br /> <br />Band Commission <br /> <br />67. O0 <br /> <br />~otion was made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants drays% in <br />payment of same. <br />none, absent 3. Motion was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> At this time Councilman Devereaux appeared in Council. <br /> <br /> The Mayor suggested that the City should own a flag. The matter <br /> <br />was referred to the Finance Committee for investigation and report. <br /> <br /> Request for the use of the City lot on the Fourth of July for a merry- <br />go-round in connection with the celebration, together with tire general subject <br />of handling of Fourth of July concessions was referred to the Street Committee <br />to work out a general plan. <br /> <br />The ayes and nays were called; Councilmen voting aye 5, nay <br /> <br /> <br />
