JUNE 19, 1916. Council 0hambers, Eugene, Oregon, June 19, 1916. Council met pursuant to adjourr~nent of June 12tit, and was called to order by )~ayor Bell. Present. Councilmen Parks, Koppe, Nosher, Quimby, and Goodpasture; mbsent Polders, ?eterson and Devereaux. The Fire & V/ate~ Com~ittee reported adversely on the petition for ~ street light at the street railway station at the City Dimits. Report was on motion adopted. Co~unication of Norman Furuset claiming damages For injury by reason of an alleged defective sidewalk on East Thirteenth Avenue was referred to the Judiciary Conu~ittee and City Attorney. A Resolution directing the Recorder to advertise for hearing of object- 'ions to the plat providing for the assessment of ornamental lighting system on Ninth Avenue from Olive Street to Pearl Street was on motion adopted. The application of Edith Anderson for a rooming house permit w~s on motion granted. It was repo~ted that H. b. Traver had resigned from the street Force, and the ],~ayor named R. E. Meyers to succeed him and the appointment was laid over without confirmation for consideration at the next meeting of the Council. The following bills were presented: GENERAL FUND. R. S. O0 ~otion was made and seconded that said bills be allowed and warrants drays% in payment of same. none, absent 3. Motion was declared carried and so ordered. At this time Councilman Devereaux appeared in Council. The Mayor suggested that the City should own a flag. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee for investigation and report. Request for the use of the City lot on the Fourth of July for a merry- go-round in connection with the celebration, together with tire general subject of handling of Fourth of July concessions was referred to the Street Committee to work out a general plan.
