A report from Health Officer Cheshire was read, and Dr. Cheshire re- comprehended that the City buy a gross of formaldet~/de candles, stating that these now cost the consumer 50 cents each, and that the City could'get them at a price that would enable it to sell them for 25 cents each. ~atter was re- ferred to the Finance Com3aittee and City Attorney to outline a policy or pro- vide an Ordinance if necessary. Recommendation of the Sewer Committee that the Engineer prepare plans and specifications and that the City proceed with the re--construction of .Fourteenth Street sewer from Mill Street to Alder Street, and sewer on Cheshire Avenue from alley between Lawrence and Washington Streets to Jefferson Street was on motion adopted. The Committee on Building presented a letter from the Eugene Water Board relative to quarters in the ~ity Hall Building, and stated that the Committee was not ready to recommend its acceptance. A Resolution was introduced providing for the acceptance of the terms of the letter referred to, provided that the rental be changed to $65.00 per month instead of $60.00 per month. On motion the Resolution was adopted. The matter of purchasing a flag for tt~e City }{all was referred to the Finance Committee with power to act. On motion it was ordered that policemen be allowed two weeks' vaca- tion on pay at such times as may be convenient under the direction of the Police Committee. On motion the Council adjourned.
