Councilmen voting <br />aye 7, nay none, absent Peterson, The Ordinance was declared passed and <br />ntnnb ered #1862. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance retaliating the manner of driving or conducting cattle, <br />horses, mules, sheep, goats or m~ine through the City of E~ene and providing <br />penalties for tt~e violation thereof was read and laid over. <br /> <br /> A report of the Street Conuaittee providing for the handling of the <br />Fourth of July concessions by the Street Commissioner was read and on motion <br />adopted. <br /> <br />A report from Health Officer Cheshire was read, and Dr. Cheshire re- <br />comprehended that the City buy a gross of formaldet~/de candles, stating that these <br /> <br />now cost the consumer 50 cents each, and that the City could'get them at a <br /> <br />price that would enable it to sell them for 25 cents each. ~atter was re- <br /> <br /> ferred to the Finance Com3aittee and City Attorney to outline a policy or pro- <br /> vide an Ordinance if necessary. <br /> <br /> Recommendation of the Sewer Committee that the Engineer prepare plans <br /> and specifications and that the City proceed with the re--construction of <br /> <br />.Fourteenth Street sewer from Mill Street to Alder Street, and sewer on Cheshire <br /> Avenue from alley between Lawrence and Washington Streets to Jefferson Street <br /> was on motion adopted. <br /> <br /> Bids for the purchase by the City of 100 cords of wood were read and <br /> referred to the Finance Com~ittee. <br /> <br /> The Committee on Building presented a letter from the Eugene Water <br />Board relative to quarters in the ~ity Hall Building, and stated that the <br />Committee was not ready to recommend its acceptance. <br /> <br /> A Resolution was introduced providing for the acceptance of the terms <br />of the letter referred to, provided that the rental be changed to $65.00 per <br />month instead of $60.00 per month. On motion the Resolution was adopted. <br /> <br /> The matter of purchasing a flag for tt~e City }{all was referred to the <br />Finance Committee with power to act. <br /> <br /> On motion it was ordered that policemen be allowed two weeks' vaca- <br />tion on pay at such times as may be convenient under the direction of the <br /> <br />Police Committee. <br /> <br /> On motion the Council adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
