JUICY 10, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council Ct~ambers, Eugene, Oregon, July 10, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by <br /> <br />Mayor Bell. Present Councilmen Polders, Parks, Peterson, Koppe, Nosher and <br />Quimby; absent Devereaux and Goodpasture. <br /> <br /> Minutes of June 12th, 19th and 26th were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Request of the Park Board that the rubbish left by the Warren Construction <br /> <br />Co. in Riverview Park be removed was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br />Quarterly~report of the City Treasurer was read and referred to the <br /> <br />Finance Committee. <br /> <br />The Fire & Water Co~aittee reco~m~ended that D. R. Farrow be placed on <br /> <br />the p~y roll of the Fire Department at a salary of $70.00 per month co~.enoing <br /> <br />July 1, 1916, and the Street Committee recoml~ended that Rex Myers be placed on <br />the pay roll of the Street Department~ at a salary of .~60.00 per month con~encing <br /> <br />July 1, 1916, and a motion was made and seconded that these recommendations be <br /> <br />adopted, and the Mayor and Recorder be authorized to issue warrants in p~yment <br /> <br />of these salaries on the first day of each month. The ayes and nays were <br /> <br />called; Councilmen voting aye-6, nay none, absent Devereaux and Goodpasture. <br /> <br />~,~otlon was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> A proposed contract between the Water Board and the City for rental of <br />quarters to the Water & Light Department was read, and a motion was made, second- <br /> <br />ed and carried that the contract be accepted by the City, and the Mayor and <br /> <br />Recorder instructed to sign the same when acceptable and signed by the Water <br /> <br />Board, and that upon the execution of the contract the Recorder shall advertise <br /> <br />for bids for the work of remodeling the City Hall for that purpose. <br /> <br /> At this time Councilman Goodpasture appeared in Council. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying assessments for the construction a~! erection <br />of an ornamental lighting system on both sides of Ninth Avenue between Olive <br />Street and Pearl Street was read and passed its second and third readings by <br />title under suspension of the rule by unanimous consent and was placed upon <br />its final passage. Councilmen voting aye V, nay none, absent Deverea~. <br />The Ordinance was declared passed and numbered #1863. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying assessments for the improvement of Tenth Avenue <br /> <br />West from Van Buren Street to Polk Street in the City of Eugene by grading and <br /> <br />gravelling the same was read the first time and laid over. <br /> <br />An Ordinance licensing and regulating motor buses operating in whole or <br />in part within the City of Eugene, Oregon, and repealing all Ordinances and parts <br /> <br /> <br />
