156 <br /> <br />AUGUST 1~, 19~o. <br /> <br /> Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, August 1~, 1916. <br /> <br /> Council met in regular monthly session and was called to order by <br /> <br /> Mayor Bell· Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Koppe, Mosher, GoodpastUre <br /> <br /> and Quimby, absent Peterson and Devereaux. <br /> <br /> Minutes of Council meetings under dates of July 10th, 1Yth, 25th, <br /> <br />31st and August 2nd were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Petition of Sherman Iteller for permission to re-shingle his residence <br /> <br /> at 1W2 - 6th Avenue West was referred to the Fire & Water Committee with <br /> <br />power to act. <br /> <br /> Petition for a sewer in the alley between Washington and Jefferson <br /> <br />Streets from 1Wth Avenue to the alley between 12th and 13th Avenues was read <br /> <br />and referred to the Sewer Committee. <br /> <br /> Reports of Health Officer W. L. Oheshire for June and July were read <br /> <br />and filed. <br /> <br /> With the consent of the Council the petition for the paving of Alder <br />Street and Putnam Street was allowed to be withdrawn at the request of <br />petitioners. <br /> <br /> Report of the Building Inspector for the month of July was read and <br /> <br />filed. <br /> <br /> Co~aunication from the Eugene Water Board reciting the cost of orna- <br />mental street lights on Seventh Avenue from Olive to High Streets, and on <br />Eighth Avenue from Willamette Street to Pearl Street was referred to the Finance <br />Committee to be checked. <br /> <br /> A formal invitation to the people of E~gene asking their attendance <br /> <br />at the Coos Bay Railroad Jubilee wasread <br /> · <br /> <br /> The following bills were recommended for payment by the Finance <br /> <br />Committee: <br /> <br />R.
