......... DEC~3ER 11, 1~16. Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, December 11, 1916. Council met in regular monthly session, and was called to order by l,[ayor Bell. Present Councilmen Polders, Parks, Peterson, Mosher, Devereaux, Quimby and Goodpastz~e; absent Koppe. Minutes of Council proceedings under dates of November 13th, 27th t~nd Deeember 1st were read and approved. Repo~,t of Building Inspector Alexander for the month of November was read and filed, and the report of Health Officer Cheshire for the month of November was read ant! referred to the Health Com2,.ittee. Nr. I,'oster reeo.rmaended that the City enter into tl~e lease agmeement with the Southe~'n Paci'fie Co. for permission to use se~nent of property at 13th Avenue and Villard Boulevard for street pu~'poses, as submitted by said Company. Motion was made, seconded and carried that the Mayor and Recorder be instructed to execute the agreement on behalf of the City. The Fire & Water Committee reco~r~nended that tt~e petitions for street lights at the intersection of 20th and Harris Streets, a~l at the intersect- ion of 16th and Moss Streets be denied on account of the cost of installation, and reconmaended that the petition for a street light on South Willamette St~,eet near 21st Avenue be granted. Notion was made, seconded and carried to adopt the reconu~endations of the Fire & Water Committee. The Street Committee ~ecommended that the opplieation of Nm. t{aner and Mr. Reaney ti]rough N. V. Parsons, Attorney, for the cancellation of portion of Alder Street assessment on account of retaining wall be denied. Notion was made, seconded and carried to adopt the reeomJaendation. SIDEWALK: LIBBY SLADDEN BURGESS. An 0rdinanee providing for the con- struction of a cement sidewalk abutting tt~e property ~eseribed in Section One of this Ordinance, said property being in the City of Eugene was read and passed its second reading by title, and was laid over on objection of Council- man Parks.
