A. Burden to hold the Office of Couneilm~n from the Fou~,th <br />~Vard Filed a w~itten repo~t as to his eligibility to hold said Office to- <br />gethe~ with ~ relinquishment of any claims of C. A. Burden to hold the Office of <br />Couneilm~n From She Fourth Ward filed a written report as to his eligibility <br />to hold said Office together with a relinquist~nent of any claims of <br />~. A. Burden to the Office, and the Following Resolution was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUT ION. <br /> <br /> WIIEREAS, C. A. Burden, a candidate for the office of Councilman <br /> <br />from the Fo~u. th V~ard in the Oit¥ of Eugene, received the g~eatest numbe~ <br />of votes east for said office at said election ~nd was given his seat in the <br />~ouneil upon the certificate of election which was given to him in due process <br />of law, and <br /> <br /> W]{EREAS a protest against his holding said office has been Filed <br /> <br />by ~,i~. Quimby, a rival candidate for said office at said election, who <br />eeived the next g~eatest number of votes cast for said office, at s~id <br />election, and <br /> <br /> '¢~EREAS upon an investigation it has been determined that there is <br /> some question as to the eligibility of ~. Burden to hold said office, and <br /> <br /> Nr. Burden having expressed his desire that he retire from the contest at this <br /> time, all of which appears in ~ report on File from the Co_~ittee to whom <br /> said question was referred, <br /> <br /> NOW ~IIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY ~{E CO~0N COUNCI5 OF ~{E CITY <br /> <br /> OF EUGENE., that C. A. Burden, Councilman elect from the Fourth 'Nard, is <br /> ineligible to hold said office, and further Resolved that E. E. Quimby, having <br /> received the next greatest number of votes cast fop said office at said <br /> election is entitled to hold said office of Councilman from the Fourth <br /> <br /> Ward. " <br /> <br /> ~.~otion was made, seconded and e~rried to adopt the Resolution. <br /> <br /> At this time E. E. Quimby appeaPed and was duly ~orn to perform the <br /> duties of Councilman from the 5~ou~th Ward and took his seat in Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
