~ayor Bell announced the appointment of Councilman Quimby to fill all the <br />Co~ittee positions to which ~. Burden h~d been previously appointed. <br /> <br /> The Fire & Water Committee by Cllairman'Peterson reported needs of the <br />fire department for supplies consisting of gate valves, ells, fire hose, <br />nozzles, and hydrant inspector. ~ Matter .was referred to the Fire & Water <br />Committee for investigation, excepting the matter of purchasing.~O0 feet <br />inch fire hose w~ck was referred to the Committee with power to act. <br /> <br /> Chairman Goodpasture of the Street Committee recommended the postponing <br />of the Eighth Avenue West widening until sufficient funds are available to <br />handle the City's portion of the cost. The report was on motion, duly <br />seconded and carried, adopted. <br /> <br /> The matter of a drag to be used in streets was referred to the Street <br />Committee for investi.~tion. <br /> <br /> ~.~ayor Bell appointed Councilman W. Polders as Council member of the <br />Park Board to succeed R. Mo~urphey, Ex-Councilman, and re-appointed, as a <br />member of said Board, T. G. Hendricks whose term expired April, 191~. <br />Motion was m~e, seconded and carried to confirm the appointments. <br /> <br /> The request of County School Superintendent Moore for concession <br />rig~hts in connection with the County School Rally to be held in Hay was re- <br />ferred to the Street Committee with power to act, and the Superintendent <br />was assured of the hearty co-operation of the City Officials. <br /> <br /> On request of Attorney Helmus Thompson the petition for vacation of <br />certain alleys in Block l~, Original Plat of E~gene, which is posted for <br />hearing before the Council on May 10th, was referred to the Street Committee <br />for preliminary investigation. <br /> <br /> The following bills were presented fop payment: <br /> <br />Fred G.
