Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, July 9, 1917. <br /> <br /> Council met in regula~ mont)ily session, and was called to order by <br /> <br />Mayor Peterson. Present Coun.ellmen Parks, Spencer, Devereaux, Nosher <br /> <br />and Spangler; absent Polders, Koppe and Goodpasture. <br /> <br /> Minutes of Council proceedings under dates of June llth and 25th <br /> <br />were read and approved. <br /> <br /> ~r. W. Sheppard addressed the Council in regard to injuries received <br /> <br />by his wife on account of a loose board in the sidewalk at Tenth and Monroe <br />Streets. The matter was refe~rred to the Judiciary Conn~ittee and City <br />Attorney to investigate. <br /> <br /> The Finance Con~ittee '.reported favorably on the report of the auditing <br />of the City Treasurer's books. Motion was made, seconded and carried to <br />adopt the report. <br /> <br /> The Finance Committee reported adversely on the matter of purehasing <br /> <br />a safe cabinet for the Engineer's Office at this time. Motion was made, <br />seconded and carried to adopt the report of the Committee. <br /> <br /> Councilman Nosher, Cha.irman of the Fire & Water Committee, reported <br /> <br />that D. R. Farrow had resigned, his position as driver of the fire engine in <br />the Fire Dept. July 1st and that his salary would be discontinued from this <br />date, and that Fred W. King had been advanced to the position vacated by <br /> <br />Mr. Farrow at a salary of $70.00 per month, and also that E. E. Perdew 'had been <br />employed as a fireman at $65.00 per month. Motion was made and seconded <br />that Mr. King and Mr. Perdew be placed on the regular pay roll of the City, and <br />that their warrants, for the respective amounts, be drawn at the time other <br />regular salary warrants are drawn, commencing with the month of July, and <br />that the report of the Fire & Water Committee be adopted. The ayes and n~ys <br />were called; Councilmen voting aye 5, nay none, absent Polders, KoPpe and <br />Goodp~sture. Motion was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> The Park Board by Councilman Spencer rePorted that they had employed <br /> <br /> Mr. H. B. Parker, as Park Te~Eter, in place, of J. G. Moeller, who had resigned, <br /> and moved that Mr. H. B. Parker be placed upon the regular pay roll at a <br /> salary of $60.00 per month, payable on the Park Fund c6mmeneing July 1st, <br /> and that warrants for his.monthly salary be drawn at the time regular monthly <br /> salary warrants are d~awn. Motion was seconded and the ~yes and nays were <br /> c~lled; Councilmen voting aye 5, n~y none, absent Polders, Koppe and Goodpastuve. <br /> Motion was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> <br />
