255 <br /> <br /> AUGUST 27, 1917. <br /> <br /> Council' Chambers, Eugene, Oregon, Au~st 27, 191~. <br /> <br /> Council met p~suant to adjournment of August 13th, and was called <br /> <br />to order by Mayor Peterson. Present Councilmen Parks, Koppe, Spencer, <br />Goodpasture and Spangler; absent Polders, Devereaux and I.loshe~. <br /> <br /> The Council listened to re~arks in favor of the petition for the im- <br />provement of Potter Street of' Dean Sanderson, Fred King and E. M. Patterson, <br />after which a recommendation of the Street Comz~.ittee that the petition be <br />denied was read. ~Councilman Spangler moved a substitute reco~_~endation that <br />the petition be granted. There was no second. Notion was made and seconded <br />that the matter be laid over until the next meeting of the Cozmeit. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee reported that they had granted to Ca~l Washbu~ne <br />permission to construct a portecochere over the driveway leading from <br />Fairmount Boulevard east t6 the rear of their lot on Falrmount Heights. <br />Motion was made, seconded and carried to adopt the report. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended that the salaries of the teamsters <br />engaged in caring for and driving teams, Wade Al'bro, John Alford and A. J. <br />Bonar, be increased to $65.00 per month from and. after September l, 1917. <br />Motion was made and seeonded that the recommendation be adopted. The ayes <br />and nays were called; Councilmen voting aye 5, ~ay none; absent Polders, <br />Devereaux and Mosher. Motion was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> An adverse report against the petition of' A. C. Jennings for permission <br /> to erect awnings across the alley at Charnelton Street between [~th & 5th <br /> Streets was on motion adopted. <br /> <br /> A petition for the macadamizing of 20th Avenue from Willamette Street <br /> to Olive Street to a width of 16feet on a 3W foot grade was referred to the <br /> Street Con~,~itte e. <br /> <br /> -SIDEWALK: Libby Sladden Burgess. An 0~dinance providing for the con- <br /> struction of a cement sidewalk abuttin~ the property desoribed in Section One <br /> of this 0rdinanee, said property being in the City off Eugene was read and <br /> passed its second and third readings by title under suspension of the rule <br /> and was placed upon its final passage. Councilmen voting aye 5, nay none; <br /> absent Polders, Devereaux and Mosher. The Ordinance was declared passed and <br /> nt~mb er ed #1905. <br /> <br /> <br />
