A Resolution directing the City Recorder. to notify the Water Board to <br /> <br />install the ornamental lighting system on V;illa~nette Street, pursuant to the <br />two Ordinances passe(! by the Council, at actual cost of labor anti material <br /> <br />was read, and a motion was made, seconded and carried to a~lopt tt~e same. <br /> <br />In connection with orders received by them, l(r. iYebster Kineaid <br /> <br />appeared before the Council claiming that either the Council had no right to <br />order a sidewalk put in on Ch~rnelton Street, the same not being a public <br />stree$, or that if the same h~d been accepted by the City for street purposes <br /> <br />it was done with the understanding that the City was to pay for all street <br /> <br />improvements. This matter and also a claim that 1~. Kineaid was entitled <br />to cancellation for assessment against a lot on ~lirteenth Avenue for paving <br /> <br />under an old agreement that the City should pay for the sa,~ne, and a claim of <br /> <br />1.~r. E. V£Gattam that his wife, Elizabeth V~hattam, held only a life estate in <br /> <br />property where a cement sidewalk has been ordered and that the ~.~atter of ia- <br /> <br />provement should be presented to the Parks heirs and not to l(rs. '¢fnattam <br /> <br />were referred to the Street Comanittee and City Attorney. <br /> <br />Request of ~ir. Bonnett to make repairs to his building on West <br /> <br />Eighth Avenue was referred to the Fire & Water Committee. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance vacating certain parts of ~ate Street in the City of <br />Eugene and determining the botmd~ries of said Street was read the first and <br />second times, and on motion laid over until June l~h. <br /> <br /> SidewaLk: Wm. An Ordinance providing for the construction <br /> <br />of a cement sidewalk abutting the property described in Section One of this <br /> <br />Ordinance, said property being in the City of E~ene, was read and passed <br />its second and third readings by title under suspension of the rule and <br /> <br />was placed upon its final passage.
