JUNE P-8, 1915. <br /> <br /> Council (;h~mbers, Eugene, Oregon, June 28, 1915. <br /> <br /> Council met pursuant to adJourr~ent of June 21st, and was called <br /> <br />to order by Mayor Bell. Present Councilmen Parks, Polders, Peterson, <br />Devereaux, l{osher, Goodpast~e and Quimby. <br /> <br /> The l(e~yor returned Ordinance No. 1752 together with his veto of the <br />same, which was read; whereupon Ordinance No. 1752 was read and declared <br />upon its consideration for passage over the Mayor's veto. The ayes and nays <br />were called, Councilmen voting aye Parks and Devereaux, nay Polders, Peterson, <br />!~osher, Goodpasture and Quimby, and the Ordinance was declared not passed. <br /> <br /> A communication from C. E. Shum~vaY, Councilman elect, from the <br /> <br />Second %Tard to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilman <br />Bogue was read, wherein ~, Shumway declined to accept the 0ffiee, and a <br />motion was made, seconded and carried that said Office be declared vacant by <br />reason of Mr. Sh~um~ay's refusal to qualify. %~nereupon nominations for the <br />Office of Counci]~aan from the Second Ward to fill the unexpired term of <br />Councilman Bo&~e, resigned, were again called for, and Mr. E. Koppe was <br />nominated to fill said Office. There being no other nominations, a motion <br />was made, seconded and carried that the nominations be declared closed; <br />whereupon a vote was taken upon the election of Mr. E. Koppe. Councilmen <br />voting aye Parks, Polders, Peterson, Devereaux, Goodpasture and Quimby, nay <br />!~ost~er, and Mr. Koppe was declared elected. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended that the petition for a sidewalk <br /> <br />on the South side of Twentieth Avenue from Olive to Jefferson Streets be <br />granted. On motion the recommendation was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Joint Co~.ittee to whom was referred the petition to remove the <br />old tabernacle building at Tenth and Oharnelton Streets recommended that the <br />petition be granted and a Resolution adopted to remove said building, and a <br />motion was made, seconded and carried that the report of said Committee and the <br />Resolution attached thereto be adopted. <br /> <br /> The ~'ire & Water Committee reported against the granting of the <br />petition for a street light at Sixteenth and Oak Street intersection for <br />the reason that there are no funds available. Report adopted. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance providing fo~ the vacation of a certain alley running <br /> <br />North and South through Fractional Block "O" ' <br /> , Skinners Donation in <br /> <br /> Eugene, Oregon, was read the third time and placed upon its passage. <br /> <br />55 <br /> <br /> <br />
