¸56 <br /> <br />Councilmen voting aye V, nay none. The Ordinance was declared passed and <br />numb er ed #1-]56. <br /> Difficulties 'encountered by the Fire & Water Committee in the matter <br /> <br />of installing new tkydrants on accmmt of expense and defective hydrants was <br />presented by Councilman Peterson, and upon his suggestion the matter of install- <br />ing tkvdrants was placed in the hands of Street Commissioner Farmer, the work <br />to be done at different times by his force when not otherwise engaged. <br /> <br /> An invitation extended to the Mayor and Council to participate in the <br />Fourth of July parade was on motion accepted. <br /> <br /> Councilman Peterson's agreement for the Fire Dept. to take part in <br /> <br />the parade received an endorsement of the Council. <br /> <br /> At this time Councilman Devereaux was excused from Council. <br /> <br /> Two Resolutions directing the t~ayor and Recorder to issue warrants for <br />the payment of de~ages over benefits to parties entitled thereto in the <br />matter of the opening and extension of Nineteenth Avenue from Willamette <br />Street to Driverton Addition, and of Seventeenth Avenue from Oak Street to <br />Willamette Street were presented, and a motion was made and seconded that <br />said Resolutions be adopted, ~nd the ayes and nays were called. Councilmen <br />voting aye Parks, Polders,' Peterson, Nosher, Goodpasture and Quimby, nay none, <br />absent Deve~eaux. The motion was declared carried and so ordered. <br /> <br /> °l~e offer of the 0reg~n Power Co.~ to turn over the use of its Pulmotor <br />to the City was on motion referred to the h'ire & Water Committee. <br /> <br /> The request of ~r. Sumner and wife fo~ a Satisfactory statement from <br />the City as to the location oF a sewer across their lot in Fair~o~nt near <br />the Southern Pacific Right-of-Way to relieve an alleged cloud upon the title <br />to their property was referred to the City Attorney, Mayor and Recorder <br />with authority to execute the prope~ papers. <br /> <br /> A quit-claim deed from William C. Hazelton and wife to the City for <br /> <br />a strip of land V feet wide and 180 feet long ~long the alley between yth and <br />Otb Avenues West of Blair Bou. was read, and a motion was ~ade, seconded and <br />carried to accept the deed and have the same recorded. <br /> <br /> A copy of the request and plat of the Oregon & 9alifornia Railroad Co. <br />to construct a spur track across Pearl Street, same to be considered by the <br />Railroad Commission of Oregon at 'an early date, was ordered filed. <br /> <br /> <br />
