JULY 16,___!915 <br /> <br />Councilman Parks then moved that the contract for the construction of said <br />above described sewer be awarded to Lewis Gates in accordance with his bid, <br />said bid being deemed the lowest and best bid for the construction of said <br />sewer, and that the ~.~ayor and Recorder. be autt%orized to enter into a contract <br />therefor, and that checks be returned to unsuccessful bidders, l~otion was <br />seconded and carried. <br /> <br /> Councilman Parks moved that the Council re-consider its action in <br /> <br />awarding the contract to the ~nerican Paving Co. for the construction of <br />a sewer co~uencing at a point in Lawrence Street about 20 feet north of the <br />north line of Second Avenue West running thence North about 12 feet west of the <br />East line of said Lawrence Street, to a point about 1~ feet north of the south <br />line of Cheshire Avenue, thence West on Cheshire Avenue to the center of the <br />alley, between Lawrence and V~ashin~ton Streets in the City of A\~gene. ~otion <br /> <br />was seconded and carried, l~otion was then made, seconded and carried <br /> <br />that the action of the ~ouncil in awarding said contract for said sewer to the <br /> <br />~nerican Paving Co. be rescinded. Councilman Parks then moved that the <br /> <br />contract for the construction of said above described sewer be awarded to <br /> <br />Lewis Gates in accordance with his bid, said bid being deemed the lowest and <br />best bid for the construction of said sewer, and that the t~ayor and Recorder be <br />authorized to enter into a contract therefor, and that checks be returned to <br /> <br />unsuccessful bidders. ~otion was seconded ~nd carried. <br /> <br /> ~4otion was made, seconded snd carried that the Mayor, Recorder and City <br /> <br />Attorney take such steps as msy be necessary to turn over to the County Authori- <br />ties City Prisoner, Frank l~orton, in accordance with the statute providing there- <br />for, unless the fine of said ~rank ~,~orton shall be paid, and that the Council <br />reco~aend to the Recorder that owing to the circumstances of the prisoner's <br />f~Gily that the Recorder accept from said Frank ~orton the su~ of $75 in full. <br />satisfaction of the Defendant's fine, and that upon the payment of said sum <br />said Frank I~orton be released. <br /> <br /> Upon the request of ~,~r. E. Hanson it was suggested that the ~4ayor sign <br /> <br /> the petition for ornamental lighting system on Ninth Avenue East; same to be <br /> <br /> ratified at the reA~lar Council meeting. <br /> <br /> On motion the Council adjourned. <br /> <br /> City Recorder. <br /> <br /> <br />
