Petition for street iight at intersection of Twelfth Avenue and Lawrence Street, and a petition from the Trustees of the ~.(eth~dist Church for permission to use the iron posts formerly in front of tt~e First National Bank for street lightin~ posts were referred to the Fire & Water. Co~.uittee. A tender of V~m. H. Field by A.. E. Wheeler his Attorney in full of assessment against property on South V~illmnette Street in the stu~ of with interest at 6 per cent from July 13, 1(315, was read and referred to the l,~in~ne e Committee. Request of El K. Che, pman that the Council authorize the City 'Treasure~ to accept .76-~.~3~ in payment of assessment against Lot 8, Block 22, Gross Addition, without interest was referred to the Finance Co~.~3nittee. Petition of the Etw~ene ~,(otor Car Co. to build an approach to' the side- walk at 763 Olive Street w~s referred to the Street Committee with power to act. Con~nunication from ~. C. V;alters denying ov~nershiP of property at the corner of 13th and Lincoln Streets, in front of which ~ sidewalk has been ordered constructed, was referred to the Street CoE~ittee. Report of tt~e Building !nspector. of permits issued for the month of Auga~st was read and placed on file. Co~n~unication to the Council from Fred G, Stickels, Treasurer, suggest- ing various changes in funds and accounts was referred to the Finance Conu~ittee. Petitions of various p~rties for the position of janitor at the new City ]{all quarters were read and referred to the Finance Co~m~ittee. The Fire & Water Committee reco~aended that the petition for ~ fountain in front of the United States National Bank be granted, providing the fountain be equipped with automatic shut-off, also recommended that the First National Bank be requested to equip its fountain with an automatic shut-off, also recommended that the petition for a street light at the corner of Second Avenue East ~nd Pearl Street be denied, ,also that the
