THE CITY .02 ~JG~NE DOES O~DAIN AS 20LLOWS: . 'BE IT E{ACT[D BY THE FLECTO~ O~ THE'CITY O~ EUGFNE, ORE]ON, Section 1. That the Common Council of the Jlty of EhGene is hereby m~thorl- zed and empowered to issue and sell negotiable bonds of the City to fh~ s~ount of Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000) Dollars o.? so much thereof as may be neeessar~ for the pgrpo.~e ',~f paving one half of the street abutting on the East and South lines of the Odd Fellows Cemetery in ~geae, Oregon, being one half of University Street ~d one h~l~ of Eighteenth Av~n~e where the s~ne abut on the Od4 Fellows Cemtery in said Oity. SFctlOn 2. The' bonds hereby authorized shall be denominated "Cemetery Paving Bonds." They. shall be a general obligation of the City of Eugene, and shall be in such form and of such denominations as will, in the Judgment of the Common Council be most likely to conduce to their salability. They shall be ma~e due and payable 20 years from ,he date of their issuance, and bear interest at a rate not to exceed 5 per cent per annum, payable semltannually. Section 3. The Common Coun ~ilof the Glty of Eugene is hereby authorized to Include in its general municipal tax levy each year sufficient special .levy to p~ the lnterest~on the bonds and provide a sinking f~d., for the payment of them when due. , Section 4. The Common Council of ~he City i.s hereby authorized te issue and sell the said bonds from time to time as they may be needed for the put,se here- in spec.lfied, bu~ before shy of them ~hal[ be sold, they shall be advertised for Sale, by pUblicat'ion of a notice asked for bids therefor ~o be published in the two daily papers now published in D~gene, Oregon, In at least one 1,ssue OF such daily papers, tw~ '~eeks prior to the time of the sale; and they may also give notice of the sale of said bonds In such ohher papers as they deem to be best f~r t~e lnterest'%f the 'City in effeeting a sale; but, if no satisfactory bids for the purghase of the bonds be received, they may sell th~ at private sale a~ not less ~tha~ par and accrued interest. Section~ 5. The indebtedness authorized'by this ~endment to the Charter of the City of ~geff~ ls In ~lditlon to al'l other indebtedness authorized and in- ' cuffed'by the City of ~lgene, ~4 shall not be eonsld,er~ as aff.ect~ by ~ limitation of indebtedness 1~ the Charter of the City or elsewhere.
