The Y~ou and Recorder were instructed to ente~ into ~ oontrao~ on be- <br />half of tho Olt~ with such bidder for 8uoh lmprovemen~ wo~k, <br /> <br /> Bids were opened, for the improvement of the Amazon Slough from 17th Ave. to <br />Jefferson St~., as follows: <br /> The bld of Stien Bros. at $~000.00 was the only one received, the condition <br />being payment in cash and not City Warrants, The s~e was refer~ed ~o <br />Uo~1~ee whloh reoommead~ ~he bld for such lmprovemem~ be accepted providing such <br />bldde~ ~ake o15y warrants lns~e~ of cash for such lmprovemem-~ work. Moved amd. <br />seconded such re~r~ be ~op~ed, The roll w~ oaited, all presen~ vet lng ~e. <br />N~ none, Such repor~ w~ deolar~ <br /> <br /> W..$. goone¥ spoke on street markers and asked for the exclusive right to <br />install the same on the streets of the City,' Such matter was referred to the <br />Street Committee. <br /> <br /> ComptFoller Johnson of the U of O, appeared amd spoke on the ABate Street im- <br />provement, asking that the center strip between the pavements, be gravelled from <br />15th to 18th Avenues, and not made as grass plot. On motion said matter was left <br />to the Street Committee to decide. <br /> <br /> Attorney Pr~l E Smith appeared as to the pavement on tVairmount Blvd. and the <br />ehanglng of the lines of such street and the vacation of strips on either side <br />thereof as asked for In the petition, stating the pavement would not be in the <br />center of such street the way planned but would be from side to side. No action <br />was taken. ' <br /> <br />'~.K. Wheeler appeared and spoke on the condition of lOth'Ave. W. stating the <br />pavement is broken in many places and it is daily getting in a worse condition. On <br />motion, duly seconded, the City Engineer was instructed to take immediate steps to <br />repair such dsmages. <br /> <br /> Martin Svarverud spoke om the petition herebofore fll~ ,to pave ~nd Ave. fr~ <br />~ate to Col'~bia Streets ~ad South Colchis St. from 2~rd Ave. to Columbia Street, <br />Ordinances were prepare'for such ~provement i~par$ as hereinafter .shown. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Slek~oose appeared ~d asked about the request she m~e a Meat ~o for <br />a waik In front oF the OltM~s property ~Jaoent to the A.O.Mathews propert <br />M~ison Street. On motion, such wa~ was o~er~ built. <br /> <br /> E. 9.Xeith appeared and spoke on the question of the oh~gl~ oF the <br />into the city fr~ the North so ~ to miss Blain Boulevard where so may enterprieem <br />have been e~{abllsh~ on aoco~t of .the h~hw~ being routed over that street. <br />The matte~j~f opening V~ Buren Street north of Blair In connection therewith was <br />dlaouSS~:'~d such ma~ter w~ referred to the Street <br /> <br /> Mr. Hayes appeared ~d spoke ~ to sidewalks on ~awrenoe Ztree~ between 19~h <br />and 21st .~vemues. He w~ lnformed ~ke walks have been order~ In. <br /> <br /> Mr. Purrow appeared and spoke as to the over-flow of water from the reservoir <br />in I~airmount, macing the streets muddy adjacent to l~th Avenue and Orchard Street, <br />He was referred to the Water Board for advice. <br /> <br /> The Board of Viewers appointed to adjust the Street assessments on the Dean Ho <br />Walker property filed thelr report and in conformity therewith e~t Ordinance No. <br />$00~ approving such report was l~SSed as in hereinafter Set fo~h. <br /> <br /> <br />
