C. mat hews <br /> <br />$296.90 <br /> 302.25 <br /> 326.25 <br /> <br /> ~gene Sand' and Gravel Co. 279.50 <br />Such bids were referred to the Street-Co~ulttee to report and said Committee <br />recommended the bid of the ~gene Sand and .Gravel Co. at $279.50. On motion <br />such recommendation was unanimously adopted ami the Mayor and Recorder were ln-~ <br />strutted to enter into a contralti with such successful bidder for such improve- <br />me~t work. <br /> <br /> A petition was received to have a sewer constructed i,n the territory south <br />of 22nd Avenue and east of Patterson Street. Said petition was referred to the <br />Se~er ~Committee and it 'recommended such petition be granted and asked the City <br />'Engineer be instructed to bring in plans and specifications for such improvemmt <br />at the next meeting of the Council. On motion such report wes unanimously adopt- <br />ed. <br /> <br /> A petltlon w~s received from property o~ers therein asking that the alley <br />running north and south la Block 20, of Gross Addition be graded and rooked. <br />Such matter, was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br />- A p~tltion was received from residents adjacent thereto asking that 22nd <br />Avenue from university st. toAgate Street ~e paved. Said matter was referred to <br />the Street Committee to repor~ andit asked that such petition be granted but In <br />addition thereto that s~uch improvement work be done in connection with a prior <br />petition granted to pave 22nd Ave, from Agate St. to Columbia St. and Columbia <br />St. from 2~rd Ave. northerly to its intersection with Falrm~unt Boulevard, said <br />improvement work to be let in two coDtraots and that ordinances be immediately <br />drawn andpassed covering such improvement work. On motion such recommendation <br />was approved° <br /> <br /> A petit ion was received asking that 23rd S~.~be paved from Charnelton to <br />LincoLn Sis. and that~ curbings and grades fey .sld~ewaLks also be constructed. Said <br />matter was referred to the Street Committee.~ <br /> <br /> A petition was received for A street light at the corner of 24th Ave. and <br />Columbia Street. Chairman Simmons of the Fire a~d Water Committee recommended <br />the same be held unt ~ 1 the Eugene Water Board reported on proposed new Zlghts <br />for the city. <br /> <br /> A petition was received to pave loth Avenue from Monroe St. to Almaden St. <br />Said petition was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> A petition Was received asking that Contractor Snow or the City re-place <br />the pavement in the alley between Willamette and Olive Streets from 6th Ave. to <br />llth Ave, Said matter wa3 referred to the Street Com~mlttee. <br /> <br /> Inspector of Bulldlr~/s Alexander reported he has t~lred Walter Ross as an <br />assistant In his office at $150.00 per month and asked that s~ch person be placed <br />on the 'pay roll. On motion, unanimously carried such report was adopted, <br /> <br /> Chairman Simmons of the Fire and Water Committee reported on the Furrows <br />petition pe~ti~lng to the abatement of the over flow of the reservoir in Fairmour_t <br />whereby water stands in the streets at l~th and Orchard Streets. Said matter was <br />referred to the City Fngineer. <br /> <br /> Chairman Rugh of th%Police committee recommended thepurchase of traffic <br />buttons to be placed, on Willamette Street at 6,7,8,9,10, and 13th Avenues and <br />recommended the traffic ordinance be amended to permit no left hand turns <br />Willamette Street, Said matter was discussed and held over. <br /> <br /> Chairman Williamson of the Sewer Committee spoke on the matter of the con- <br />taminated wells on the River Road vicinity caused by the Citys main truck sewer <br />and asked that some relief be given t~l those people so affected. On motion, <br />unanimously carries, it was decided;lt~oconstruct a water line from the city into <br />that area to relieve such condltion~ <br /> <br /> Chairman Monroe of the Street Department spoke on the Street Cleaning condi- <br />tio~ in the City' add introduced Mr. Kingston of the Elgin Co. who apo.kc. After <br />discussion the whole matter wa~ referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />
