Council Chambers, Eugene,Oregon September 14th, 1925. Minutes of the regular meeting of the COmmon Council held September 14, 1925, Mayor E.B.Parks being absent, President of the_.Cc~mcil Geo. W. Monroe presided and a~ presiding officer did not vote on pending matters. All members of the 'Coun~ oil were present, except McCull¥, absent. Minutes of the meetings of the Council for Aug. 10, Aug.24, and Sept. 9, 1925, read and approved. Carl Onthank of the University appeared 'and spoke on the attitude of the University toward the building of a dance hall on the Mill race adjacent to the University. Such matter was referred to the Planning Co~iss lon. . C.~.~lanton againappeared and asked the Council as to what the City intended to do to settle the matter of the sewer being run through his lot in the South Willamette District" without his ,:onsent. Said matter was referred to the Sewer Committee to report at the next meeting of the Council. Bids were opened :for paving the alley between High St. and the Mill race from 8th to 9th Avenues as follow,~: .Oscar Snow. $1~14.10 Stien Bros. 1285.90 Geo. W. Read 1255.40 ' Such bids were referred to the Street Committee for report and said Committee recommended the bid of G~,),~W. Read at $1255.40. On motion such recommendation was u~anlmousl¥ adopted and the MaYor and Recorder were instructed ~o enter into a contract with such successful bidder for such improvement work. Bids were opened for the paving of the alley 'betWeen High and Mill Street fromllth to 15th Avenues as follows: Stien Bros. $2364.50 Oscar Snow 2420.85 eeo. W. On motion such reconl- mendation was unanimously adopted and the Mayor and Recorder were lnstrocted to e~%~ tar into a contract with '~uoh successful bidder for such improvement work. On motion such recommendation was unani- mously adopted~the Mayor and ~ecorder were instructed to enter into a contract with such successful bidder for such improvement work.
