Tesetmer asked tha C~ncil for a rebate on the paving of Wlllsmette <br />Street opposite 19th ami 2Oth Avenues to the amoun~ clone half of the inters.ee.tior~ <br />for the reason that lgth Avenue m%d 20th Avenue have s ~ea been paved ~4 the <br />assessments against t~se intersections are unjust to the ~oua+, of such ~lalms. <br />The matter was disnuss~, but nG set ion taken. <br /> <br /> 0n recon~nendatlon of the Street Committee Charles Westrope was pls~ed on the <br />payroll as a street '~orker at $100.00 per ~nth. <br /> <br /> The matter of constructing a curb on Klncaid Street, heretofore petitioned <br />~or, was discussed and, on recommendation of the Street Committee, such petition <br />was greeted, i, he work to be performed according to the plans of the City Engineer. <br /> <br /> A petition was received to have a wooden bridge constructed over the Amazon <br />on Lawrence Street at 14th Avenue. The matter was discussed and on recommendation <br />of the Street Co~-mlttee it was ordered that the.City D~gineer bring in plans and <br />specifications for the improvement of the intersection at Lawrence St. and l%th <br />Ave., and also the intersection of Jefferson Street and l%th Avenu,~ by construct- <br />ing wooden bridges at such points. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended Colubmla Street between the,I~allway right of <br />way and 13th Avenue be paved and that Stlen Bros., who paved Columbia Street, be <br />asked to completed their contract. Such recommendation was approved. <br /> <br /> The City Engine.er recommended that landings be eonstr~oted on Lawrence <br />Street and l~th and 2~th Avenues° On motion the Street Commissioner was instruct- <br />ed to construct wooden landings at such.points. <br /> Chairman Wlllle~nson, of the ~ewer ~ommlttee reporteda $11,547.06, has been spen~ <br />to date on the ~azon.ani he recommend.d an aver,~a~e of t~o feet be d~g out of the ~ <br />botton of the ~uazon from the Fair Ground to a p~lnt 50 feet east of. the Willamette <br />Strest bridge to make a completed Job on such ditch. Stockton mi Engineer, appeared and spoke on the semage situation i~ the <br /> city, and made several suggestions for consideration by the city as toits sewage <br />· need. s, , <br /> <br /> An Ordinance levying assessments for paving 18th Avenue from Olive to Charnel- <br />ton Sts., having been read the first time on August 23rd, 19.26, and register'ed notice <br />given and all protests overruled, it passed its second and third readings by title <br />by unanimous ¢~nsent under s~3pesnlon of the rule and was placed on its final pass- <br />age. The ayes and nays were called, all present voting aye. Nay none. The Ordinance <br />was declared passed and numbered 5578. <br /> <br />- An Ordinance levying assessments-for the paving of 19th Avenue from Hilyard <br />Street' to Willamette Street, Having been read the first time on August 23rd, 1926, <br />and registered notice given and all protests overruled, it passed its second and <br />third readings by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule and was <br />placed on its final passage. The ayes arfd nays were callad, all present voting aye. <br />Nay none. The Ordinance was declared passed and numbe, red 5579. <br /> <br /> <br />
