Lee and all members o£ the Council, ex- <br /> cept Washburne, who was absent. Meeting called to order by the Mayor. Minutes <br /> of the meetings of Aug. 9th, A~%g. llth, Aug. 23rd, Aug. 25th, and Sept. 7th, 1926, <br />-read and approved.' <br /> <br /> N.R.Gaylord appeared before the Council and objected to the p~yment of $21.00 <br />es a balance still assessed against his We.~t loth Street property claiming that <br />amount was unpaid by him on account of an old curb replaced at the time of the pav- <br />ing of West 10th Street. Such matter was 'referred to the Judiciary Committee and <br />th~ City Engineer. <br /> <br /> Geo. Gansle also appeared as to his assessment at the corner of Moss Street <br />and Falrmount Blwl. No action was taken. <br /> <br /> A petition was received to pave 24th Avenue from Onyx to Agate Streets, and <br /> W.P. Reed spoke on the matter. As part of 24th Avenue is not opened at this time <br /> no action could be taken on the petition, but it was referr_ed to the Street Com- <br /> mittee. <br /> <br /> A petition was received for a street light at the corner of 18th Avenue and <br /> Emerald Street. Said petition Wa~referred to the Fire and Water Committee. <br /> <br /> Andrew Holton filed a petition to repair a building at 1123 Willamette Street <br /> by making a few minor changes. Such matter was '~eferred to the 2ire and Water <br /> Co~aittee.: I~,recomme_~ded such petition be granted, and,.on motion, such reeom- <br />. mendatlon was approved. <br /> <br /> A petition was received for a sewer between 24th Avenue and the City Limits <br />from Agate Street to alley east of Columbia Str. eet. Such petition was referred <br />· to the Sewer Conmnittee to report. On recommendation, of the Sewer Co.~m~lttee, said <br />petit ion w~s granted. <br /> <br /> The matter of opening Potter Street south.from 23rd Avenue was brought 6P and <br />discussed. The City Engineer was directed to bring l~ Plans an4 report for such <br />~treet opemlng, <br /> <br /> C.C. McKee asked permlsslo~ to install a s. andwich wagon on East 9th Street <br />and within the l~lre Limits. After discussion such request was denied. <br /> <br />- ProPosed amendment~ to the eLectr.lcal code ef the city was offered and referred <br /> to the InsPector of Buildings for .report. <br /> <br /> A letter was received and read from ~;.L. King as to the proposed tres~le <br />over the Amazon where the Street Railway track crosses 'the stream in the Southwest <br />part of town. No action was taken. <br /> <br /> · The Inspector of Buildings reported sewers should, b.e ~nstalled In the City as <br />f~llows: <br /> 1. Lateral connecting to Lawrence at Cheshire thence east to alL~y a~d north <br />in alley one block. , <br /> <br /> .2. ExtEnd l~teral between Lawrence Street ,and Washington Str.eet one block <br />north from Cheshi~.~ <br /> <br /> ~. Extend lateral between Washington Street and Jefferson Street one blook <br />north from Cehshire Street. Lawrence Street and Washington.Street from I,eth <br />Avenue to 23rd Avenue. ~ <br /> <br />The following ~ Resolution was offered, and ,m an lmo us ly adopted: <br /> <br /> LU I.O .' <br /> <br /> BE IT R~OLVED, by the Common Council that the City of Eugene build and re- <br />.construct a sewer between 4th and 5th A~enues, from Jefferson to Blair Sts., and, <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER REsoLVED:that the said work be done by the City end that the <br />sene be p~£d out o~ the Trur~k S~wer Fund, and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER 'RESOLVED, that the City Engineer bm~-,diatel¥ prepare ,pleas and <br />specifications for such improvement '~ork and the City Recorder advertise for <br />p etattve bids for such improvement work. <br /> <br /> <br />
