Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon. <br /> October 25th, 1926. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Co,mCll held October 25th, <br />1926, at 7;30 o'clock P.M. the Mayor and all members of the Co,mci1 were present. <br />Meeting called to older by the Mayor at 7;30 o'clock P.M. <br /> <br /> Bids ~ere opened as per the call for the construction cfa sewer between <br />Lawrence and Washington Sis. from 19th to 22nd Avenues. as follows: <br /> W.W.Head Construction Co. $1513.80 <br /> 0soar Snow 1699.00 <br /> Nautico Marqu ~s 1713.50 <br />Such bids were rsferr~ ~o the Sewer Committee For report and It reported favora- <br />bly on the bid of W.W. Nead Const. Co. at $1513.80. 0n mot ion, such report w~s <br />adopted and the ~ayor and Recorder were instructed to enter into a eont~et with <br />suoh sueoessful bidder for such oontraet wdrk. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened for the constr~ction of a bridge myer the ~nazon on <br />Jefferson St. as follows: <br /> I{a ym e.~ Bros, $2679.00 <br /> W.W.Head Const. Co. 1 Sype. 2150.00 <br /> W.W. Head Coast. Co. another type. 2250.00 <br />Sudh bi,is were referred to the Street Committee for ~epo~$ and It reported favo~- <br />ably oa the bid oF W.W. he~t Const. Co. a% $2250.00. On moiled, suoh repor~ was <br />~opt~ and the ~ayor and ~e~order Nero instructed to enter into a contr~t with <br />such successful bidder for such contract work. <br /> <br /> The Street Co,,maittee r eco:nmended the bid of C.G.McMy be ~cepted on the <br />curbs on Klncaid Street from 18th to 19th Aves. for $506.25. On motion, such <br />recGnmendatlom was unanimously adopted. <br /> <br /> A petition was received for a street light at the intersection of Hnerald <br />Street and 2O~h Avenue. Such mattem~as referred to the 21re and Water Committee. <br /> <br />A wireles,~ permit was granted to 0 A RichaRdson ab 1654 Ferry Street. <br /> <br /> A permit was granted to Earl Kelly to operate a Rooming Hou.~e at 45t 9th <br />Avenue East. <br /> <br /> The petition of C.P. PIyde'to repair certain sidewalks and the approach to <br />the bridge over the Amazon on bincoh Street was read, out no official action <br />was t 8ken. <br /> <br /> The matterof the Cherry Bros. claim for a refund in connection with the <br />opening of Polk Street, was again brought up to the council and discussed s~d <br />referred back to the City Attorney and Street Co~lttee for report. <br /> <br /> A deed was presented from ElizabEth McKlnney to the city a tract of ground <br />for street purF~ses ~l.]acent to Dst 1, Block 1, Cheshire~s 2nd Addition. Said <br />matter w~s unanimously accepted by roll call. <br /> <br />The Mayor at this time appointed the following men a~ members of the Budget <br /> <br />Committee: <br /> <br /> W.T. Gordon , A.M. Miner <br /> F N McAl!ster Lee Johnson <br /> David Graham Stanley Stevenso~ <br /> T. N. Garrett J.W. Seavey <br />The Recorder was directed to notify these men of their appointments and to meet <br />and organize immediately. <br /> <br /> T.M. Gerow appeared in regards to the contemplat~t Public Comfort Station, <br />wanting to know the Procedure necessary to start such Project. He was informed <br />that no work could be started until after the BUdget was drawn ~ for 1927. <br /> <br /> Dr. Alma Cannon Miller appeared and asked that the interest on c ertaln <br />assessments be cancell~ d as .~he had, had no notification of the work. On motior_ <br />such mat~er was referred to the Judiciary Committee and the City Attorney.. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee recommended 23rd Avenue from A~ate to C~[~mbia Sts, <br />bepaved, ~provld~ng the a.~.~essed valuation is high enough to warrant such im- <br />provement. On motion such recommend orion was .adopted. <br /> <br /> L.E. Si~ons recommended the bridge over the Mill race near Franklin Blvd. be <br />blocked immediately. Suci~ recommendation was approved. <br /> <br /> <br />
