Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon. <br /> November 15th, 1926. <br /> <br /> Ninutes o~ ~dJourned meeting of the Common CoUncil held at 7;30 o'-~lock P.M~. <br />November 15th, 1926. There were present Mayor E.U. Lee and all members of the <br />Council except Washburne and Rugh, who were absent. Meeting called to order by <br />the Mayor. <br /> <br /> Bids we're opened as per the call for the construction of a storm sewer on <br />t. he South side of 16th Avenue from the alley west of High{ Street to Hllyard St. <br />as follows: <br /> Stlen Bros. ~4749.75 <br /> Oscar Snow ' ' 3098.10 <br /> Yunker wrecks and Jo. 3122.74 <br />Said bids were referred to the Sewer Co,hi%tee for report and it reoo~ended the <br />bid oF 0soar Snow at $3098.10. 0n motloB such reporb was ~1opted a~d the Nayor <br />and Recorder w~re authorized ~o enter into a contact with the successful bidder <br />for such contract work. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened as per the call for the .~onstruction cfa sewer from the <br />end of the present sewer on 17th Avenue and Moss St. to ?alrm~nt Blvd. at <br /> <br />Smnmlt and Park Aves., as fo llows: <br /> W.W.~ead Const. Co. <br /> Stien Bros. <br /> Oscar Snow <br /> Yunker Wiecks and Jo. <br /> <br />$13,215.25 <br /> 12,950.50 <br /> 13,081.25 <br /> 13,261.45 <br /> <br />Said bids were referred to the Sewer Comnlttee for report and it recon~mended the <br />bid of Stlen Bros. at $12,950.50. On motion such report was adopted and the May~ <br />and Recorder were authorized to enter into a contact with the successful bidder <br />for such cont~ ct work. <br /> <br /> An aerial permit was granted to John B Beardsley for a radio at 540 13th <br />Ave. W. <br /> <br /> A deed was tendered the city by Samuel and Lottle N. Rugh for a tract of <br />ground for ali~y purposes Just west of Van Buren Street between 9th and 10th <br />Avenues. The same was referred To the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> A representative o£ Wentworth and Irwin Inc. fm~m whom the city purchased <br />the nmv flusher was present and sp eke on the work of the flusher, which was <br />dellvere~l and 4emonsbrated this day. After discussion, ifwas moved and seconded <br />the flusher be accepted and th~ b~ll of $5800.00 less the credit of $2150.00 <br />for the old flusher traded in, or a balance of $3650.00 be paid. The roll was <br />called, all pr~ent voting "aye". The motion was declared carrY. <br /> <br /> The Recorder asked as to insurance on the new flusher and called attention <br />to the excessive rate on the city property where the flusher is to be kept. <br />After discussion it was moved and carried $1000.00of ~lre Insurance only for a <br />term of three years be carried. <br /> <br /> The Board of Viewers filed a tentative repor~ on the proposed opening of <br />18th Ave. from Wlllemette to Mill Sts. to a~slst the Engineer in preparing a <br />report. The ~hglneer was directed to prepare his reportfor such street open- <br />ing and submit it at the next meeting of the CounCil. <br /> <br /> The Board of Viewers also filed an emended report on the proposedopenlng <br />of Potter St. frmn 23rd to 25th Avenues. On motion such report was adopted. <br /> <br /> A petition was received to pave the alley between Willamette ant Olive <br />Sts. from 18th ~o l~th Avenues. Said matter was referred to the Street Committee <br /> <br />On motion the following resolution was offered, and unanimmAsly adopted: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION. <br /> <br /> Be It ResoLved, by the Common Council of the City of Eugene, that the City <br />of ~gene, extend the sewer on Madison Street from 14th to 15th Avenues. <br /> <br /> Be It Further Resolved, that the City Engineer l~uediately prepare plans and <br />specifications for such iml~rovenient work, and the City Recorder advertls e for <br />bids for such improvement work. <br /> <br /> Be It further Resolved, that the said work be done by the City and that the <br />seine be paid for from the Trunk Sewer Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />
