Louis A Berrie and Harry B Manville petitioned for the construction of side- <br />walks on both sides of Almaden Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, and also on <br />both sides of Emerald Street between 23rd and 24th. Avenues. Said matter was re- <br />ferred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> Chairman McCully presented estimates for suits for the Fir~ Boys and the s~me <br />was discussed.. It was decided to procure additional bids before buying. <br /> <br /> A letter was re~l from the Renssler Valve Co. as to fire hydrants to be <br />purchased. The matter was discussed but no action taken. <br /> <br /> It was r~eported the ornamental la.rap post at 7th and Willamette ~treets taken <br />down last August has not been replaced and it was further reported there are some <br />18. cluster lights out on Willamette Street. The matter w,as discussed and ordered <br />looked in to. . , <br /> <br /> ~ Councilman Lamb. reported a paving cut on east ~th is in a dangerous conditio~ <br />and the Street Commissioner 1,~ ontered to fix it l~mnediately. The matter, of <br />Franklin Avenuenear the Mathews p~ant, caused to be in bad condition by such plan~ <br />was also-reported. Such nuisance was ordered abated. <br /> <br /> A Mr. McDonald of the. Fyr Fyters Co., was present andpresen~ed a fire exting- <br />uisher and recommended its use by the City.
