Said matter <br />was refaced to the Street Committee and it reco~nended such petition be granted. <br />On motion such report was adopted.. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee repot ted adversely on the request that Almaden St. <br />near 6th Avenues be repaired. On motion such report was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee reported on the Woo~ claim f~r alleged damages to a <br />sidewalk on .CharneltonStreet betw-:eh ]5 th and lYth Aves. recommending the same <br />be denied. On motion ~uoh report was a~'lopted. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee stated the county is improving the County road south <br />Sf Alder Street and the city is asked to repair Alder Street From the end of <br />thepavement to the city limits and the estimated cost thereof for the city's <br />part to be $441.00, and r commended such expenditure be made. On motion such <br />report was ~iopt ed. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee spoke on various other improvements needing attention <br />especially 4th Ave. between Pearl and High and Graud St., on which Jack McKy offers <br />of payh all the cost of repairs, Birch Lane, the condition of a manhole on 20th <br />Ave. between ~merald and University Streets, and also sidewalks in various parts <br />of the city and stated he would have a more detailed report of th ese matters <br />to present to the next council n~etlng. <br /> <br /> The City Engineer was directed to look up thereafter of the paving of yth <br />Avenue from High to Mill race and ref~ort at next meeting. <br /> <br /> Counoilma~ Monroe, stated M.M. Davls Has heretofore promised t'he city that <br />when Mrs. Huidleston died her estate w,m~ld deed to the city the st:~p on l~he <br />south side of 8th Avenue and also on the east side of Monroe St. next 'ichor <br /> <br />property so as to make 11~11 width streetsln those places. That Mrs. Huddleston <br />la now d'eceased end means should now be taken to get such sire'ets widened. No <br />action was taken. <br /> <br /> The matte~ of a bridge over the Mill race on Alder St. and of widening <br />Alder Street from 9th to llth Aves., was agaln~iscussed. On motion, the Engineer <br />was'directed to prepare plans and specifications for a ~4 foot street on Alder <br />Street from 9th to llth Avenues ~nd also plans and speciflcalons for a bridge <br />over the Mill race on Alder in conformity to a ~4 foot street. <br /> <br /> The Pire an~j Water Committee spoke on the need of more firemen, and recommended <br />two addltiomal men be hired at $95.00 to commence Pebruary 1,192~, Also that the <br />Fire Chiefs salary be increased from $140.00 to $150.00 per month.
