Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon. <br /> · October 29th, 1925, <br /> <br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Counc il ~held at 5;00 o'clock <br />P.M. on october 29,1925, Mayor E.B.Parks was absent and all members of the Coun- <br />cil were present, except Simons, abse~nt. In the absence of the Mayor, President <br />of tl~e Council Monroe Presided. <br /> <br /> The report of the viewers on the opening of Van Buren Street from 3rd Avenue <br />to Blair Bird, was rgad and approved. . <br /> <br /> An Ordinance adopting the report of the viewers on the opening of Van Buren <br />Street from Sr. d.Ave, to Blair Blvd., was read the first time and passed its secod <br />and third readings by title.by unanimgus consent under suspension of the rule as <br />was placed on its final passage. The aye~ and nays wer. e called, all present vot- <br />ing aye. Nay nose. The Ordinance was declared passed and ntm~bered 5135. <br /> <br /> Discussion was had as to the adv,isibllity of extending .the work on the Amazon <br /> ditch from 17th Avenue south ami east to intercept the old ditch,, Stien Bros. <br />- the contractors, appeared before the council and offered to do such work, from <br /> the end of their preseyt contract at 17th Ave., at.40 per yard if the work can <br /> be done in connection with their present contract. On motion, it was unanimously <br /> carried that the offer of Stlen Bros. be accepted and the City Engineer was in- <br /> structed to issue his work order for such additional improvement work the same <br /> being contingent on procu~ ng a right of way therefor. <br /> <br /> Jack McX¥ appeared before the council and stated the improvement work on <br />Railroad Blvd. and Van Buren Street is completely cutting his company off from <br />acces,~ to their gravel plant and asking regre~s from the city therefor., Such <br />matter was, on motion, referral to the Street Committee with power to act. <br /> <br /> .A petition was received from residents on Agate Street between 21st and 23rd <br />Avenue.~, asking the city to work out a plan whereby the wall in front of the L.D <br />Scarbrough residence be lereserved. Said matter was referred to the Street Commi- <br />ttee and it recommended such wall be removed from the street. On motion, unani- <br />mously carried, such report wasadopted and, the Recorder lnstruoted t o notify Mr. <br />Soarbrough to set his wall back of the street lime. <br /> <br /> An aerial permit was 1 ssusd to W.A. Hansen to erect a wireless at 1645 Mill <br />Street. <br /> <br /> On motion counmil adjourned. <br /> <br />Geo. A. Gilmore, <br /> City Necorder. <br /> <br /> <br />
