December 28,192~. <br /> <br /> Ninutes of adjourned meeting of Co:,.~mon Council held at 7;30 o'clock P.N. on <br />December 28,.1925, there being present Mayor E.U. lee and all members of the eounell, <br />except Washburne, absent. <br /> <br /> Me,ting called to order by the Ma?o~. <br /> <br /> P.E. Smlth appeared as attorney for A.L. Ball as to his a~sessment on the 13th <br />Avenue improvement at the corner of Lincoln Street, claiming the curb which was <br />c~nstructed and paid for years ~o was aga~ bein~ charged against the adjacent <br />properties. Said matter was referred te the Street Co~uitt~ and the' City ~glneer. <br /> <br /> Frank E Bristo'~ also appeared e~ to the assessment against his property in <br />connection with the 13th Aver~.e improvement, stating he drsired to pay when he <br />~ould asoertai~ the amount he' should pay, as the property was not assessed in his <br />name. <br /> <br /> Protests were called for as per notice sent for proposed assessments for the <br />construction of a sewer be.~innlng at the manhole in the center of Polk Street at <br />the intersection of Cross Street, thence west to the North line of Ry. Blvd. <br />~ard Wells spoke but did not protest. <br /> <br /> Protests were called for as p.er notices sent for the poposed opening of 9th <br />Avenue from Van Buren Street to Alm~ten Street. No protests were received. <br /> <br /> Protests were called for as Per notices sent for the pro posed opening of the <br /> alley between Willamette~and Olive Streets north from 13th Avenue. !~rs. Moxley <br />· protested end said matter was re-referred to the Viewers as to her dlalm. <br /> <br /> This being the date set for the hearing to condemn the Ehcore ;{otel owned by <br />N.~.~aylord, Mr. G~Mlord appeared and n~de a very leng~h~ and emphatic talk to <br />hold his contention. No 'action was taken. <br /> <br /> 'A delegation appeared as to the progress being made on the opening of Van Buren <br />Street from 3rd Avenue 'to Blair Blvd, They were informed as to t.he. progress of said <br />matt er. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened as per the call for .the conistructlon of'a ~ehicle bridge and <br />two foot bridges across the Amazon on Wlllsmette Street as follows:- <br /> Stlen Bros. ' $3000.00 <br /> W.W. head Coast. Co. 2850.00 <br /> Haynes Bros. 2780. O0 <br />Said matter was referred to the Street Committee for report and it recommended the <br />bid of Ha~nes Bros. at $2780.00. Moved the report of the Street Committee be ap- <br />proved. The rollv~as called, all present' voting aye, absent and not voting Washburne <br />The motion was declared carried amd the Mayor and Recorder were instructed to enter <br />into a contract with the successful bidder for such 8onstructlon work. <br /> <br /> Donald Yo. ung, as attorney for certain petitioners, present ed a petition call- <br />ing for the closing and discontinuance of the Auto Park. Said matter was referred <br />to the Park Board <br /> <br /> P.J.Patterson Presented a Petlt~,o~ looking to a s~lement for the right of <br />way across the Patterson property Inth$ work on the Amazon. Said matter was re~ <br />ferred to the Sewer Committee. <br /> <br /> ~.G. Jennlngs and W.P. Reed, as members cf the School Board, appeared and asked <br />the city to graT.el the street in front of the Woodrow Wilson Junior High Building. <br />Said matter was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br /> The order vacating part of Railroad Blvd. as passed on December 14, was <br />amended as to a more definate description on unships;cna vote of the council. <br /> <br /> N~v contracts were prepared fo~lexecution with H M Elliott for a r~newal for <br />a dump ground site for an addition/y~ar at .$~0.00 per month and the Mayor and <br />Recorder instructed to execute ~uch contracts on behalf of the city. <br /> <br /> The Judiciary Committee reported on the petition to regulate the trucks op- <br />erated by the Wlllsmette Valley Transfer Co. stating the company ~rees to keep <br />such vans p~rked in other places than on the street and to pay for ~y and all <br />damage they ~ay occassion. On motion such report was approved and the petition <br />ordered filed. <br /> <br />An Aerial peri, it was granted to T C Luckey for an aerial at 2267 Olive Street. <br /> <br /> <br />
