C.H. Nork objected <br />to ~ assessment of $64.21 for. layi~ o~ Sewer pipe ~d also water pipe to his <br />property as being ~just; Mrs. Cox objected to being assess~ on Falrmount Blvd. <br />when she will be assessed later on Walnut Street and on 17th Avenue. W.A. Bourel~ <br />objected ~lso as he pmid on 15th Ave. ~d will later be assess~ on W~lnut. <br />Allen objected on slmiliar grounds. S.V. Dr. Hodge objected te the <br />assessment of $23.65 for the iayl~ of pipe to his property as being te~ much. Geo. <br />Gansle inquired ~s to the street and sidewalk line to his property but m~e <br />objections. (Councilman Simons was exc'u~ed at 8;30 o~clook P.M.) Said protests <br />were considered ~d the protestants were told to appear ~aln on Wednesday evening <br />J~uary 27,1~26, at 7;~0 o~clock P.M. when the matters would be further considered. <br /> <br /> Chairman Lamb of the Print lng Committee reported such committee had purchased <br />a Royal Typewriter for $90.00 for the use of the Recorders office. <br /> <br /> Chairman Wllllamson of the Sewer Committee reported the Vadnals sewer in <br />Falrmount will have to be installed under supervision of the Inspector of Buildings <br />and that at present it is all washed out. <br /> <br /> Chairman Wllllamson of the Sewer Committee also reported on the Patterson <br />petition for a setSlement for a right of way for the Amazon stating the matter is <br />being laid over till the ad,JustmenS of the Amazon Ditch comes up for viewers. <br /> <br /> The Judiciary Committee and City Attorney reported with reference to the <br />proposed appeal of the ~lourney case Stating the City would not be warranted in <br />spendlng further money in the case. On motion the report of the Committee and <br />City Attorney was sdopted. <br /> <br /> The City E~gineer recommended a pipe line about 250 feet in length be <br />structed to remedy the over flow of water across private property from Longvlew .. <br />Street. Such matter was referred to the Sewer Committee. <br /> <br /> The matter of settlement with Mouse and Miller in connection with the openini~ <br />of Van Bursa Street was further discussed, but no action taken. <br /> <br /> Mayor Lee spoke of the convention to be held in Portland on January <br />,by the League of Municipalities of Oregon and recommended the City Engineer be sent <br /> to such convention. On motion such reeo~mnendation was adopted. <br /> <br /> The amounts due Oscar Snow, of $1051.75, for the improvement work contracted <br />by him In constructing a sewer on Cross Street under 0rd~tnanoe 5069, and also ~ <br />amom~ of $1544.25 for the improvement work contracted by him in construct lng a <br />sewer between 1st and 2nd Aves. from Pearl to Mill Sis. under Ordinance 4841, were <br />ordered Paid. <br /> <br /> ROoming house Permits were granted to Mrs. E.J.Snooks for a house at 45 9th <br />Ave.~, and oat, to Jesse Fergusom for a house at 32 8th Ave. W. <br /> <br /> Aerial Permits were issued to Katherine g Reade for a wireless at 1987 Univer- <br />sity St.; one to DeArthur Lowe for a wireless at 943 Washington St., and uae to <br />K.C.Sherman for a wireless at 1414 18th Ave. E. <br /> <br /> The Recorder reported Carl Onthank asked that an open well in Victoria Heights <br />be cared for as being dangerouSe The Chief of Police was directed to attend to the <br />matter. <br /> <br /> The Planning Commission asked that the city have its Engineer Prepare a map <br />and survey of the Te~lto~y~ oyer which the commission has ~urlsdictlon to be used <br /> <br /> <br />
