Council Chambers, Eugene, Oregon. <br /> March 29th, 1926. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Common Council held at 7;30 o'clock <br />P.M. on March 29,1926. There were present, Mayor Lee and all members of the <br />Counoll, except Washburne amd Lamb, who were absent. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened on the 24th Avenue e~qd ~airmount Sewer, as follows: <br /> Oscar Snow (Concrete plpe~ $23,003.§? <br /> Yunker, Wiecks and Co. " " 23,308.78 <br /> Stien ores. (Cement ) 29,505.60 <br /> Stlen Bros. I~;itrifled clay) 28,90~.20 <br />Protests from property o~ers ~d others were eall~ for. S.P.Ness, on behalf <br />of eerta~ property owners spoke and also J.W.Maltm~ spoke, each inquiring the <br />manner of paying for such sewer ~d the matter of a r ~ht ef way across eertal~ <br />property w~ also discussed. Such bids were referred to the Sewer Committee for <br />future report. <br /> <br /> The rooming house application of Alice Beavers for a place of business at <br />45 9th Avenue East, was, on motion, rejected. <br /> <br /> The Eugene Federation of Womens Organizations requested the Council to ob- <br />serve "Clean up Week." Such matter was referred to the Health Committee to re- <br />port at the next meeting ef the Council. <br /> <br /> Tom Olson appeared and requested a permit to build two grease pits at the <br />ser~lce station at the corner of 9th Avenue and Pearl Street. Said matter was <br />referred to the ?ire and Water Committee with power to act. <br /> <br /> A letter was read from C W Handler, olalmlng the deed tendered him for part <br />'of the Manley lot near the corner of ~$rd Avenue and Blalr ~lvd. did not except <br /> the $150.00 lien against hlsproperty as egreed and also that the consideration <br /> should be $45.00 instead of $50.00. His statement was agreed as being correct, <br /> and,. on motion, the following res~lution was offered and unanimously adopted: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION. <br /> <br /> Whereas, in the openln, g of~ Van Buren Street from Third Avenue to ~lalr <br />Boulevard, ~the property owned bY~ C.W. Henzler, viz Lot 9, in part, of Block 8, <br />of Sladden~s Third Addition to Eugene, Oregon, was ~ssessed a benefit of $150.00 <br />by reason of such Street Opening. <br /> <br /> And whereas, later the city, thrOugh negotiations, sold to said C.W. Henzler <br />a portion of Lot 8, of said Block ad.joining the Hen~ler property and therein a- <br />greed to release such assessment for the street opening herein mentioned as part <br />consideration for such sale. <br /> <br />BE IT TNEREFORE, R~.~0LVED: <br /> <br /> That the Lien entered against the property of C.W. HenzLer, in the amount <br />ef $150.00 as a benefit for opening Van Buren Street from Third Avenue to Bla!~ <br />Boulevard, be cancelled, and the Clty Recorder and City Treasurer are each here- <br />by directed to cancel the same of record In their respective offlces and remove <br />the same of record from the Lien Docket of the City. <br /> <br /> A letter was received from herbert Leigh as to the condition of the sewer <br />in the aLley back of the Peter Pan. It was agreed thereafter would be attended <br />to. <br /> <br /> A deed was presented to the city from the Lane County Investment Co. for the <br />right to construct and maintain a sewer over part of Block 32, of Gross Addition. <br />Such deed was, on motion, not accepted and the matter tabled at this time. <br /> <br /> H.L. Snell appe red amd inquired if the city desires to purchase the LaPorte <br />ProPerty on Agate Street at 24th Avenue for the purpose of opening 24th Avenue, <br />statlng the party ls contemplating bulldlng a residence at that point. Such <br />matter was referred to the Street Committee and the City ~hglneer. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee reported favorably on the petltion to pave Oak Street <br />from l~th to 14th Avenues. On motion the report of said Committee was adopted. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee reported favorably on thepetltlon to pave 9th Avenue <br />from Van Buren to Almaden Streets. 0n motion the report of said Committee was <br />adopted, all councilmen Voting aye, except Wllllamson, who did not vote. <br /> <br /> The Street Committee reported favorably on the petition to pave Jackson <br />Street from llth to 12th Avenues. 0n motion the report of said Co'mmittee was <br /> <br /> <br />
