<br /> Minutes of the adjourned meeting of the Co~m, on Cotmcit held at 7;30 O'clock
<br />P.M. on April 5th, 1926. There were present Mayor E,U. Lee and all members of
<br />the council, except WaShburne and Lamb, who were absent. _
<br />
<br /> One sidewalk improvement ordinance was read the first time and passed its
<br /> second and third readings by bible by unanimous consent under suspension of the
<br /> rule amd was placed on its final passage, The ayes and nays were o~lled, all
<br />-present vot~g aye. Na~ none., The Ordinance wa~ deolmred passed and n~ber~
<br /> 5a75. ,

<br /> The report of Dr. Helterllne, as Nilk Inspector, was read and the same
<br />ordered filed. The matter of' inspection of milk, meats, cafes and of places
<br />where produce for consumptio~ Is sold, was discussed and referred to the Health
<br />Committee for report.

<br /> A petition was received to pave 19th Avenue fr~m bincqLn to Lawrence Sis.
<br />and thence 'south on Lawrence ;Street from 19th to 2~st Avenues. Such matter was
<br />referred to the Street Committee.

<br /> A protest pe titlon was :received to the paving of 18th Ave. hue from Willam-
<br />ette to Lfncoin Streets, which petition was heretofore granted, 0n motion the
<br />former action of the council in granting such petition was rescinded and the
<br />Recorder directed to return the petition to the petitioners and ask them to file
<br />a n'ew petition for the paving of 18th Avenue from Wlllemette to Lincoln Streets,

<br /> A p ebitlon was received to pave Jefferson Street from ,~th Avenue to 13th
<br />Avenue the conditions being it be paved with cement and the co,,~t thereof not to
<br />exceed $5.00'per fr°nt foot. Said petition was referred to the Street Committee
<br />and it reco~nended such petition be granted. 0n motion the report ef said
<br />Committee was approved.

<br /> A petition ~as received ~sking that Oak Street from 13th to 14th Avenues be
<br />not paved, the same petitioners, in part being those who had petitioned such
<br />street be paved which petition was g~anted March 29,.1926, On motion the action
<br />of the council granting the petition to pave said street was rescinded.

<br /> Chairman Rugh of the Poll.ce Co~m, lttee rePorted he has bade a mistake in the
<br />in the Party in asking the rooming house appllcatidn of Alice Beavers for a place
<br />of business at 45 9th Avenue e~ast be rejected and moved thwarter be re-con ldered
<br />and that a license be granted %0 such person. On motion such matter was re~
<br />eonslder~ ~d such license granted.

<br /> Mrs. Geo. W. Davis reported the WillaMette ~falley Tran,~fer Co. were again leav-
<br />ing vans on LincoLn Street contrary te its promise not to do so, The Chief of
<br />Police was directed to see such Parking is not done.

<br /> The Recorder Presented a communication from Mr. King of the Southern Pacific
<br />Ce. with a contract entered into with the City on November 30,1909, asking lC such
<br />contract was in force on June 30th, l~16. Such matter was r~ferred to the Judiciary
<br />Co~mnlttee and the City Attorney.

<br /> V.E.I~oven, es the assignee of J.D. Baker, presented a contract entered into on
<br /> ,January 12, ~916, between the city amd J.D. Baker: in which the ~mount ~f $122.73 as
<br /> -the assessment levied in the paving of Al, der Street for 4~.U(~ feet in what ls
<br /> 23rd Avenue if extended, ls to be ~eturned to said B~er, or assignee, when such
<br /> street is opened. ~ such street is now opened it was directed such ~o~t be
<br /> paid in the final settlement for such street opening.

<br /> Oh~. Dick appear~i amd spoke on his petition heretofore fi[~ asking the city
<br />to sell him the west 50 feet of ~t 1' of ~oster's'~ditiom so his property ~ould
<br />' fa~e on'Railro~ Blvd., 'and offered $~0.00 therefor. 0n ~otiom of the Chairm~ Of
<br /> the Street Committee such offer was rejected.

<br /> The Street Conmaittee reported on the~matter of the purchase of the LaPorte
<br />property at Agate Street a~d 24th Avenue as presented by H.l. Snell, and offered
<br />the following res olution,/whloh. '~as unanimously adopted:

<br /> RESOLVF~: That the Common CounCil of the City of EUgene, ORegon, deems it
<br />expedient amd necessary to open, lay out and establish 2~th Avenue from ~gate
<br />Street West to the West ~ine ef the LaPorte property, amd that the City Engineer
<br />
