Council Chambers, Eugene,Oregon. <br /> April 12, 1926. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the ,regular monthly meeting of the Common Council held at <br />o'clock P.M. on Aprl[ 12,1926; There were present Mayor E.U. lee and all members <br />of the council, except Co~cilma~ Washburne, who was absent. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the meetl~s of March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29 and April <br />5,1926, re~ and after a correction of one Item In the mlnues of the meeting of <br />April 5, approved. <br /> <br /> John Zlmm~ r appeared arid stated a shop near his home on Blair Blvd. h~d a <br />smoke stack which is a menace to residents near it. Such matter ~as referred to <br />the Health Committee. <br /> <br /> .A Mr. Sanderson appeared and asked he be permitted to demonstrate a paint <br />machine to mark curbs and streets. Such matter was referred to the Street <br />Committee. <br /> <br /> Tho School Board appeared in a body urging action In the oonstruct lo, n of <br />the 24th Avenue and ~alrmount Sewer, stating the district intends to Immediately <br />build a seb3ol building la that locality if it gets sewer connections. <br /> <br /> Thcs. J. Casey appeared in connection with the Po'lk Street Opening stating <br /> when such street is Opened it takes a F, rtlon of hls property on whloh he has <br /> paid .for sewer assessments and asking for a return of the amount of the assess- <br />- sent on the property so taken. H.D. Cher.ry also presented a like statement as to <br /> Improvements paid for and destroyed by such opening as to his property. Such <br /> mattersww~re referred to the ~tnance Comntttee. <br /> <br /> M. Svarverud appeared and spoke on the assessed valuation of property on So'ut~. <br />Columbia Street and as to the grade on such street. ~ei. also asked that a fire <br />hydrant be placed on ~alrmo~t Heights abou~ opposite Judge Harris' proper~y. <br />This last matter was referr~ to She ~ire ~d Water Committee. <br /> <br />The following resolution was presented and, on motion unanimously ~iopt ed: <br /> <br />· R ESO LU TI ON. <br /> <br /> RE3OLVED: That the Common Council of the City of Eugene,Oregon, deems <br />it expedient and necessary to open, lay out and establish 12th Avenue from <br />Willamette to Olive Street, and that the City Engineer be and is directed to <br />make a plat thereof, and make and file a written report containing a full and <br />complete description of such street and its boundaries and of the portions of <br />each let, part ef lets er tract of lam! to be appropriated therefor. <br /> <br />The following resolution was presented, and, on ~m~lon unanimously adopted: <br /> <br />R E SO L U T I 0 N. <br /> <br /> Whereas in the opening of 23rd Avenue from University to Alder Street, L.J. <br />Clave was assessed a damage of $50.00 and a benefit of $25.00 for his property <br />taken and benefitted by reason of such opening whlchp roperty ls described <br />as follows:( Metes a~d bounds as described in Ordinance.) <br /> <br /> And Whereas, the amount of such benefit has been entered in the Lien Docket <br />of the City. <br /> <br /> And Whereas, a warrant has been drawn to said L.J. Clave for the amount of <br />such damage less the amount of said benefit. <br /> <br />BE IT THER~ORE, Rf~OLVED: <br /> <br /> That the Recorder and Treasurer of the City of Eugene,Oregon are hereby <br />authorized ~d directed to cancel from the records of the City tho amount of <br />sue~ assessment fox' the benefit as above stated. <br /> / The following resolution was presented and, on motion, unanimously adopted: <br /> <br /> R E'S 0 L U T I O N . <br /> <br /> [Whereas in the openlng of 23rd Avneue from University to ALder Street, V.E. <br />IIov~n was assessed a damage of $650.00 and a benefit of $135.00 for his property <br />takeh and benefitted by reason of such opening which property la described as <br />~ollffWs: (Mete~ and bounds as described in Ordinance.) <br /> <br /> <br />
