Council Chambers, Eugene,Oregon. April 12, 1926. Minutes of the ,regular monthly meeting of the Common Council held at o'clock P.M. on Aprl[ 12,1926; There were present Mayor E.U. lee and all members of the council, except Co~cilma~ Washburne, who was absent. Minutes of the meetl~s of March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29 and April 5,1926, re~ and after a correction of one Item In the mlnues of the meeting of April 5, approved. John Zlmm~ r appeared arid stated a shop near his home on Blair Blvd. h~d a smoke stack which is a menace to residents near it. Such matter ~as referred to the Health Committee. .A Mr. Sanderson appeared and asked he be permitted to demonstrate a paint machine to mark curbs and streets. Such matter was referred to the Street Committee. Tho School Board appeared in a body urging action In the oonstruct lo, n of the 24th Avenue and ~alrmount Sewer, stating the district intends to Immediately build a seb3ol building la that locality if it gets sewer connections. Thcs. J. Casey appeared in connection with the Po'lk Street Opening stating when such street is Opened it takes a F, rtlon of hls property on whloh he has paid .for sewer assessments and asking for a return of the amount of the assess- - sent on the property so taken. H.D. Cher.ry also presented a like statement as to Improvements paid for and destroyed by such opening as to his property. Such mattersww~re referred to the ~tnance Comntttee. M. Svarverud appeared and spoke on the assessed valuation of property on So'ut~. Columbia Street and as to the grade on such street. ~ei. also asked that a fire hydrant be placed on ~alrmo~t Heights abou~ opposite Judge Harris' proper~y. This last matter was referr~ to She ~ire ~d Water Committee. The following resolution was presented and, on motion unanimously ~iopt ed: · R ESO LU TI ON. RE3OLVED: That the Common Council of the City of Eugene,Oregon, deems it expedient and necessary to open, lay out and establish 12th Avenue from Willamette to Olive Street, and that the City Engineer be and is directed to make a plat thereof, and make and file a written report containing a full and complete description of such street and its boundaries and of the portions of each let, part ef lets er tract of lam! to be appropriated therefor. The following resolution was presented, and, on ~m~lon unanimously adopted: R E SO L U T I 0 N. Whereas in the opening of 23rd Avenue from University to Alder Street, L.J. Clave was assessed a damage of $50.00 and a benefit of $25.00 for his property taken and benefitted by reason of such opening whlchp roperty ls described as follows:( Metes a~d bounds as described in Ordinance.) And Whereas, the amount of such benefit has been entered in the Lien Docket of the City. And Whereas, a warrant has been drawn to said L.J. Clave for the amount of such damage less the amount of said benefit. BE IT THER~ORE, Rf~OLVED: That the Recorder and Treasurer of the City of Eugene,Oregon are hereby authorized ~d directed to cancel from the records of the City tho amount of sue~ assessment fox' the benefit as above stated. / The following resolution was presented and, on motion, unanimously adopted: R E'S 0 L U T I O N .
